March 29, 201412 yr Dear all I'm trying to pin down a beautifully modelled small fast yet. Classic or modern, I really don't mind... I'm not after anything supersonic, but a small subsonic military trainer or classic fighter/bomber would be super that I can do some touring in. Hopefully able be chucked around a little, I'm really after something that flies "right" and has the systems covered well. Looking forward to your suggestions!! Callum McLoughlin
March 29, 201412 yr Not sure if this is detailed enough but I enjoy the odd flight in the T-45c, plus it's free which is always good http://indiafoxtecho.blogspot.ie/2014/01/t-45c-version-256-release.html Stephen Asus Z170 Deluxe, 32 GB DDR4 Dominator Platinum, i7 6700k mild overclock, GTX Titan ( Pascal ) Win10
March 29, 201412 yr The Milviz T-38A is AMAZING. The tiny wings means that the plane is very unforgiving at low speeds. It's a pure pleasure to fly. It is a supersonic trainer tho, but you are of course not required to fly supersonic vatsim s3
March 29, 201412 yr Don't have the Lotusim L-39, myself, but I heard that was pretty kickass. I've also considered getting a plane in the category you mentioned, and if I ever do, that will probably be the one.
March 29, 201412 yr The description fits the Lotus L-39 perfectly. I agree the freeware T-45 is great and so is the Milviz T-38. But I haven't found a little jet that feels more 'right' than the Lotus L-39.
March 29, 201412 yr Those are all excellent suggestions - you couldn't go wrong with any one! I'll through in a couple more of my personal favourites: SSW F-104G and the Milviz F-86. The VC in the F-104 is not quite as slick as the Milviz birds but the systems and (apparently) the flight model is top notch. Milviz allows you to use a Flight1 wrapper option which gives you a 30-day return privilege. SSW allows you to download and test fly with an 8 minutes timer (after which your sim pauses and you have to exit and reload FSX to re-enable). But it gives you time to test the plane on you system and get a feel for it. Dino's T-45 is of course, FREE. So that one's almost a no-brainer (His -41 and F-35 are pretty darn nice too - also free). March 29, 201412 yr Author The Lotus looks great. I forgot I have the A2A P51... maybe that will scratch the itch for now, but if there are any showstoppers that turn up I'll have to get it. Look at this for inspiration: Callum McLoughlin
March 29, 201412 yr L39 is amazing... RXP 430W fits as well if you own that. Very excellent handling (with some quirky habits modeled) superb on fps and the night lighting that started it all.... I threw in a simple 2 axis popup autopilot for my needs but it really is an excellent addon. March 30, 201412 yr I would second the F-86. The view from the cockpit is great too. Mike Mike Dryden
March 30, 201412 yr Look at this for inspiration: That must have been an expensive video! When the Commemorative (formerly Confederate) Air Force comes to town the going rate $2K per Mustang flight. Going back to original context, the F1 Mustang is really nice, and I have found myself enjoying the Lionheart Epic Victory lately. Carenado has their new Phenom 100 that is likely to debut in a couple of days, so if you are not interested in military (I too have the A2A P-51 Civilian, and it is indeed fast, but lonely) those could be options. March 30, 201412 yr Razbam makes an excellent T-2 Buckeye (carrier-capable trainer for the US Navy up until 2008) which I own and is very fun to fly. One thing to not forget however, is that it uses turbine jets just like the T-38 (also an excellent plane from Milviz that I enjoy flying) so it has a slight delay in throttle response. http://www.razbamsims.com/northam_t-2_buckeye_1.html Samuel Scully
