Is Ftx Global Worth The 100 Bucks?

Thinking about getting, just want to know from other users first.

To me it's a really good improvement and that speaks more about how bad I thought FSX default scenery was than how great FTX Global is.  Before I got Global I just wouldn't fly much outside of Megascenery X Socal or PNW.  Couldn't handle it.  Afterwards, I didn't mind it so much.  I also have Vector now which was another step that made the world a bit nicer and they have an update to Vector which looks to make it better.  Also, with the light tweaker (free download you can use with Global) night flying just got a big boost.

So...it makes things nicer.  Not a revolution but an important evolution...if that makes sense.

If you are running default textures and fly all over the place (Not limited to just one zone or region) then I would say definatly get it. It's not perfect, it does have some issues if you look hard enough but it is certainly a massive imrpovement over default textures. No washed out tones or poor quality terrains, they are crisp and clean, good trees, autogen, even hedge rows.

Wonder if it will ever go on sale?

LOL.  Well, their prices do drop on things.  That's how I picked up Australia.  I have a lot of things I'd like to get but I have to be practical.  If the prices come down then I'll be shopping.  Global and Vector were good values to me because it covered the Earth.

As mentioned above....

If you're using default textures, YES.

If you're using another 3rd party texture replacement, like Ground Environment Xtreme (GEX), it gets a little debatable. Some folks feel GEX brings enough to the table to reduce the "need" for FTXG. Others feel FTXG is so much better that the investment is still worth it.

I find the FTXG textures (and autogen) to be very appealing, and worth the investment. I'm looking forward to their regional landclass additions later this year to further extend the product.

I've spent the last few years flying default textures apart from in my native UK where I had photoreal scenery. I finally bought UTX Europe a few days ago to add some better looks for my European flights and then took the plunge with FTX Global. I love it, it really has made the experience more immersive especially combined with UTX (or vectors of your choice). The improvement to my flight around KLAX and KJFK with just the nicer textures was enough to make me buy UTX USA to get it even better. It is pricey but, given how much time I spend enjoying flight simming it has proved a worthwhile investment which hopefully will give me a few years of better enjoyment.

If I was starting with FSX now, and knowing what I do know now, it would be the very first scenery add on I would purchase.

Well worth the investment.

Before I saw your reply, I was thinking of exactly the same answer!  Words well spoken.
