KLGB Long Beach Airport ver4

I too have the low FPS and flickering problem. Could the problem be FTX Global (Which I have, as well as UTXUSA)? After all that product does change some FSX core files, there may be a conflict!

Thanks

I am going to be back to home base tomorrow and I will try and diagnose this more. Thanks for the feedback and patience.

I don't have Global but I have low fps - it seems to be something on the airport in my experimentation.

No worries Shez!

Thank you for producing such an amazing airport and hopefully you will find a solution without too much difficulty in your own time. I have used your airports in FS9 and FSX and have been very pleased with them. I am sure your efforts and hard work are very much appreciated by many!

I think it just goes to show that making a great airport is a lot, lot, lot of work and fsx can be a real pill.  :)

The low FPS may be down to the size of the textures. There are many that are mipmapped 4096x2048 in size. The flickering may be a separate unrelated issue that FTX may be the cause. Do you have any flickering of the textures? Just trying to isolate a common symptom.

Thanks

Hi Shez, I've tried your beautiful scenery, and here is what I've seen:

I've done a simple circuit with ASN and NGX, I use global/vector, fsglobal for the mesh and only your scenery was active in the area, no AI traffic.

The frame rate was very poor, 11fps on takeoff, 18 on landing, not really smooth, during landing I've noticed that the ground flickering a lot, mostly the runways and the ground just before the rwy25, it seems that a transparency layer want to come over the other layer.

Indeed is a very very beautiful scenery, a great job!!

thanks!

If it is of any help Shez, something seemed to be comsuming VAS space at a high rate of knots on my set up from KLGB, which did not happen when I uninstalled it and rechecked. Although I am certain you will know a lot more about this than me, from my very limited knowledge I understand that this can often indicate a so-called memory leak which I gather can sometimes be related to a rogue texture file or files.

I too am experiencing very low FPS, scenery looks amazing and its incredible work, better than most payware, but as stated above framrates are down in the low teens, virtually unflyable.

Do you have FTX Global?

Please everyone reporting low frames and/or flickering please report what scenery addons you use in the area. (GEX, OrBx, FTX Global w/wo Vector, UTUSA, etc...) as well as local scenery addons. Maybe we may find a common link. Mine is FTX Global, UTUSAX, and I use a freeware LAX scenery from Glenn Johnson.

Edit: You should also add Mesh and Land class. I use FSG mesh, and Cloud9 Land class.

Thanks

OK guys I have discovered the problem (I think). The result of pushing release deadlines .

Also there seems to a major frame rate degradation from turning ground scenery shadows on.

Can I have some volunteers to test this especially the persons who have written on this forum thread. Email me.

I have all shadows turned off in FSX.cfg but still see the fps drop.

I've got all shadows off and I also have FTX Global (w/out Vector) activated and I have no issues to report regarding FPS. I do have a fair bit of texture flickering though.
