Long pause in free flight menu when selecting airport

Featured Replies

When selecting some airports I get a long pause, about 15-20 seconds, before it loads back to the menu where I can click fly now. This does not happen with most airports. Does anyone have an idea what it might be causing it?

I too have had this problem, but it's happened so much, I've gotten used to it.  It would help to know what is causing it and if there is a solution.

Origin EON-17SLX - Under the hood: Intel Core i7 7700K at 4.2GHz (Base) 4.6GHz (overclock), nVidia GeForce GTX-1080 Pascal w/8gb vram, 32gb (2x16) Crucial 2400mhz RAM, 3840 x 2160 17.3" IPS w/G-SYNC, Samsung 950 EVO 256GB PCIe m.2 SSD (Primary), Samsung 850 EVO 500gb M.2 (Sim Drive), MS Windows 10 Professional 64-Bit

I always have assumed that this is caused by add-ons. I know the more add-ons I have active, the longer the wait before FSX returns to being responsive.

I have that too, but if I look at the size of my FSX install and the number of entries in my scenery.cfg, it doesn't make me wonder anymore. ;-)

20 seconds can be spent waiting, there is always something to do when you set up flight, like checking the weather, the charts for the departure, etc.

morning.

in your fsx.cfg, under the main section add the follwing line

disablepreload=1

that will solve the issue, its a common one that.

If I think it's add-on related (which it is in my case) - I just disable all my add-ons and see if that cures it (which it does).
