February 23, 200521 yr What do you all think of the Boeing 717-200 "The Last Legacy" from the Vans Aircraft Company. I love the 717 and would love to fly it, but I am not too sure about Vans. Anyone have experiences with them? Good/Bad? The new plane looks mighty tempting, and I am thinking I might have to go for it? Comments...thanks allhttp://www.vansairco.com/index.eng.php?fra...=Serie+200&id=2
February 23, 200521 yr Hi CameronI must admit I find it looking a little cartoonish, especially the cockpit. I would say - Wait til you hear about others expieriencens.RegardsHenrik KorningBGGH
February 23, 200521 yr Very Interesting ....You can d/l the 124 page manual ... which I did and quickly looked through. Looks like most systems are modeled. The FMS really isn't a Honeywell or Smiths or Collins ... it is really the Garmin GPS500 in an "FMS Skin" ... but it looks serviceable if you are not expecting the "real thing"I, also, would be interested to hear from any buyer!!Thanks,
February 23, 200521 yr I recently got burned yet again by buying the Lago Maddog, so I won't be beta-buying this one. The screenshots have a kind of FS98/2000 feel to them.ricardo
February 23, 200521 yr Hi thereI have the first version of the Vans 717 which was ok if a bit simplei.e some systems not modeled, I had thought that the project was deadso to see V2 is a surprise.I have emailed alex about a discount for people who bought the first version but i am not expecting a reply anytime soon as support is not their strongpoint. If you are a fan of the Boeing 717 then it is the best one around even in the first version but it has only the perfect flight 717 as competition If i get a discount i will buy it.
February 23, 200521 yr Jet City will be coming out with the 717 soon, maybe you will be able to merge that plane with the Van's 717 panel?
February 24, 200521 yr Hah, Erick Cantu's 717 (MD-95) dwarfs all of them combined (you could make a case for VANS in terms of panel though, I guess).http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/107858.jpgI personally use Ken Mitchell's panel, and I can't fathom why ANYONE would pay for a plane they can get in better quality for free. Then again, the "if it's payware it's necessarily better" mentality must kick in, I suppose... But really, if you're smart, try Erick's model, sounds and Mitchell's panel, and THEN decide whether that's not good enough.Daniel P.http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/ng_driver.jpgMember of SJU Photography. February 24, 200521 yr It is great. But then again some people may want to fly with a vc. ;-) Cheers,Todd
February 24, 200521 yr Hi I have the first version and i see that i get V 2 free as an existing userI will post my opinions when i receive the D/l link from Vans Airco
February 24, 200521 yr mad dog, Please do reply after you've had a chance to feel her out (not up). Based on the comments I think I will wait for another 717 model (or freeware) unless there is a serge of people who think it is fantastic. Nuts...I was really hoping this plane would fit into the ATR 72/PMDG 737/Feelthere PIC-ERJ category. I LOVE THE 717 and really want to fly a very high quality/complexity/realistic version of it (with wing views and virtual cabin of course). I suppose I have been spoiled with the 3 current pay-ware greats as far as airplane add-on quality. Thanks all for your comments and mad dog I look forward to your review.
February 25, 200521 yr Author O.K. I bought this add-on (VANS 717) and for my taste it's not that bad. I'd say it's light years better than FS2020 Alienware Aurora R11 10th Gen Intel Core i7 10700F - Windows 11 Home 32GB Ram NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super OC 16GB - Pimax Crystal Light VR
February 25, 200521 yr Dillon, I as well am a 717 fan. Let me know about the FMC after you've had a chance to look it over. By the way, does this aircraft come with wing-view without the VC? Thanks for the review also!
February 25, 200521 yr Author Well Cameron here's the story. You have wing views but you don't have 2D cockpit side views. The FMC is very basic to a point I can't figure out how to use it. Everything is fine as fare as punching in NAV frequencies but how do you file a flight plane (you actually have click spots on the screen instead of the keypad *:-* )??? A shortcut to the default GPS is not included which leaves me to assume the flight plan magically appears in the FMC somehow when you file a flight plane within FS. I guess if Microsoft can do it with the default GPS, these guys can on their FMC FS2020 Alienware Aurora R11 10th Gen Intel Core i7 10700F - Windows 11 Home 32GB Ram NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super OC 16GB - Pimax Crystal Light VR
February 25, 200521 yr >>Like I said this is not a bad add-on, a reasonable price would>have been $10....> LOL :), It must be pooo if you think that..Jason
February 25, 200521 yr Author :-lol You would have to own it to know what I'm talking about... FS2020 Alienware Aurora R11 10th Gen Intel Core i7 10700F - Windows 11 Home 32GB Ram NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super OC 16GB - Pimax Crystal Light VR
