March 1, 200521 yr Wolfgang,I'm right there with you on this one. The closing of the tech support forum has only cemented my decision not to buy this product. So far, I've only heard flimsy excuses for this. IMO, there is no reason why potential customers should not be able to at least read the support forums in order to help them make an informed decision on whether or not to buy this product.Just my opinion, but $40 for what's essentally a panel and a custom air file?. . .can anyone say "POSKY!?"Gary Hawk
March 1, 200521 yr Would you feel differently about this thing if it was somehow managed to open the tech support forums for read-only ? (just out of curiosity)Tero PPL(A)
March 1, 200521 yr Gary,LOL now but with all due respect: comparing POSKY and Level-D is just plain ridiculous, and I think you know that too!:-xxrotflmao Tero PPL(A)
March 1, 200521 yr While you have a point regarding the closed (even for viewing) support forum, you're really doing yourselves out of one awesome add-on. Learning the PMDG 737NG was a wonderful, addictive and rewarding challenge, the LDS 767 raises the bar another level or 3. It's simply mind blowing.Sorry Gary, but to say your simply getting a panel and custom air file, just sounds a little bitter. Isn't that fundamentally the same as all add ons where a freeware model is available? It's what's behind the panel, sytems and air file that counts and I assure you Lonny's freeware panel, as awesome as it is, doesn't model a fraction of these systems. The Level-D FMS is a product unto itself.Bottom Line:Level-D want to protect their product as much as they can from illegal distribution. In this regard keeping the actual support forum dedicated to licensed purchasers makes total sense. Best RegardsBoone,[email protected]"Flying a plane is no different from riding a bicycle. It's just a lot harder to put baseball cards in the spokes."
March 1, 200521 yr Tero,Thank you for asking. However, I think you already know the answer to that question. Yes, I have made my decision based on many factors, not just the tech support forum closing issue. Closing the tech support forum only served to cement what I was already thinking. However, don't just listen to me about the support forum issue, read some of the other messages on this and other strings, some other MBs for that matter. Can't you also hear the "air," of disapointment? Not just from me, but from many POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS that may just want see what's up with this simware, or perhaps if this thing is gonna work right with their particular video card or rig, BEFORE they shell out their hard earned quidola?Personally Tero, IMHO at least opening up the tech support forum as "read only," for non-customers is a no brainer.Gary Hawk
March 1, 200521 yr Hi Jeroen,Glad to hear you are making progress with the Concorde - great to fly isn't it?As for myself, I will have to relearn, what I have unlearned (to quite Yoda): Flying the 767...BRGDSSven Sorensen, EKCH
March 1, 200521 yr Tero,Not necessarily. What? "POSKY," you say? Absolutely! Maybe I should've explained myself a little better. My point really was that with about 15 minutes of broadband downloads and a few minutes of installation just about anyone can have a -300 that looks AWESOME, sounds GREAT, and flies like a "heavy,". . .with the livery of your choice.VC panel eye candy may be one thing, (Hmmmm, I wonder what POSKY has planned for the next version?) but from what I saw in the two pre-production videos, the POSKY model is by far superior to that of the one shown by Level D. Granted, they were both pre-production videos. However, to this day IMHO the POSKY model is the best there is available anywhere, period.Gary Hawk
March 1, 200521 yr Gary,Our team has 2 ex POSKY and 1 current POSKY member, one of which has done the model... Really, I think your commentary on this subject is getting a bit amusing with comments like "far superior". Flies like a "heavy", well I most certainly disagree.I am SURE you have NO IDEA what kind of work has been done in researching and testing of this panel. It's a LOT more than just sounds, or a model, but you obviously fail to grasp it. I have lost my interest in this topic now, since you seem to enjoy "keeping me at it". Have fun!Tero PPL(A)
March 1, 200521 yr It is really funny to see, that it is allways the mebers of the beta team, who insist, that a product has no bugs. Many times they are much more enthusiastic about a product than the developers themselces. Is this, because in the end it is them beta testers, who have not discovered the flaws, when testing?Wolfgang :-wave
March 1, 200521 yr Tero,You are correct sir. I don't have any idea about what kind of work has been done in researching this panel. Actually, I never made any claims to that fact and I'm not associated in any way with Level D. So, I'm not really sure what your point is here.I was just simply offering a couple of observations from what I seen of this work. That's all. Nothing more, nothing less. As an apparent beta tester of this product I thought you might be interested in some feedback. But it sounds like you're not interested, and that's ok too.Tero, looks like we've kinda strayed from the original premise of my first posting that you chose to respond to. So, we'll just end this exchange as I've previously posted here with what I have said before. For all the various reasons previously posted, and as a consumer, I am not purchasing this software. Nor am I recommending it to anyone whom I know. Simple as that. One last item, I almost can't believe that you seemingly did, but if you disagree with being able to set up a really sweet -300 from what's available on the net I respectfully suggest that you blow some of the dust off of your modem and go check out what all is availabe.Teto, it's been fun and I thank you for the discussion. Take it easy and I'm sure we'll be having more discourses in the future.Gary Hawk
March 1, 200521 yr "Would you feel differently about this thing if it was somehow managed to open the tech support forums for read-only ? (just out of curiosity)"TeroAbsolutely. . . yes!You guys must see by now that is a big RED FLAG for potential customers.Terry
March 1, 200521 yr Why should Level D open their support forums to those who don't own the product? They don't have to if they don't want to. It's their decision. I quite like the fact that you have to provide the right information to get access ... it obviously cuts down on piracy. We're all one big happy family!!You people have no obligation to purchase the 767. Why should people who don't have it be allowed to view the support forum? Yeah ok, you get to see what the product is like, bugs etc, like other developers but this doesn
March 1, 200521 yr Wolfgang sir,I have not insisted that the LDS767 has no bugs. I'm simply defending intellectual property as I see fit, from some pretty low-level commentary. I'm sure that you can understand that.Do you think we have not discovered flaws during testing ? Think again.Tero PPL(A)
