August 18, 201411 yr http://www.simhq.com/daily-news/microsoft-flight-simulator-update-released-dovetail-games.html Is this the much anticipated UPDATE to FSX and will a new version be as good or better than P3D? Will Dovetail finally get rid of the OOM's? Thoughts? Chris Camp
August 18, 201411 yr Totally misleading title.... I see no mention an FSX update only a new product based on MSFS and they will continue to distribute FSX | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
August 18, 201411 yr 1. We hashed over all of this about a month ago. 2. There is no update to FSX, but to get it to work through Steam and to get multi-player to work. That's it. The FSX you have now is the FSX you will have forever. Your FSX Gold will basically be the same as the Dovetail Gold version. If you are getting OOMs now, you will still get OOM's using the new FSX version. 3. Nobody knows what 2015 will bring, but speculation is that anything new will be based off the Flight engine and not the FSX engine.
August 18, 201411 yr Here we go again... 1. Sigh!!, yes we have.. It has been dug up so many times... 2. Yup.. instead of buying DVD's, you are buying downloads. Microsoft now does not have to carry inventory nor get involved in worldwide shipping anymore. 3. Pure speculation, no facts at all. Flight!.. it was regarded by many as being very arcade like! Even the free version was stopped! Think about all those developers out there.. already developing for FS9 (yes, still) FSX ( a 6-7 year old program that needs a lot of tweaks to get going) P3D (continually being updated). Will they have the time, money, resources & interest? Will we? Robin "Onward & Upward" ... To the Stars, & Beyond...
August 18, 201411 yr Very misleading title. They're not creating an update for FSX, they're releasing FSX again on Steam with some minor improvements.
August 18, 201411 yr Will be interesting to see what kind of liberties they take as they make the .exe Steam compatible.
August 18, 201411 yr Will be interesting to see what kind of liberties they take as they make the .exe Steam compatible. That's just what I was thinking. Dave Taylor
