August 18, 201411 yr On a small trip from Oslo Gardemoen to Bergen Flesland (ENGM-ENBR) with heavy thunderstorms it suddenly happened. A familiar sound started to ding its way into my brain. "No. It couldn't be", I thought. Even with the NGX ported over, I don't even run 2.3 on max graphics. Not even REX4 are allowed to inject 4096 resolution textures into my sim. But there it was. On final for runway 35 and landing checklist complete. DING! "Prepar3d has run out of available memory" I don't know wether to laugh or cry Brynjar Mauseth
August 18, 201411 yr Author Im sorry if I sounded like a crybaby, but I wonder; why do we have the possibility to increase terrain view distance sliders and autogen building sliders to ultra maximum if its eventually gonna give you OOM? I hear plenty of people running all sliders on max, but they don't know whats coming. Brynjar Mauseth

I hear plenty of people running all sliders on max, but they don't know whats coming. Because they run less-intensive scenery and aircraft and don't make long enough flights to encounter the issue. If they aren't getting OOMs, the maxed out sliders aren't a problem for them and they benefit from the increased settings. If you are getting OOMs, you'll have to accept lower settings... but that doesn't mean they should be deprived of them.

I mean, maybe my old nintendo64 could have pulled of the same graphics. Brynjar Mauseth
