September 2, 201411 yr Kevin you raise an interesting point - that by installing a "Defender", one conceivably might end up in court charged with modifying an airplane without legal authority from FAA etc. !!!! And I have had meal service delayed with the instruction to close trays, fasten seat belts snugly & raise seatbacks to upright due to expected turbulence. (raised seats & trays presumably to avoid having one's teeth knocked about!) january
September 3, 201411 yr I would think that anytime you do something to alter the airplane you would be in serious trouble. The Knee Defender is a step too far. There are more amicable ways to approach this. Most passengers are more considerate of each other. You cause a disturbance, you go to jail.
September 3, 201411 yr Those arrogent passengers who think they have to right decide of the rest of us should behave need to be a aware. In additional/y to being disruptive and risking a criminal conviction, the airline has no obligation to complete the flight if the aircraft is diverted. Even if the flight is completed the airfine isn't obliged to honour any other legs, or even the return flight. An UK passenger was thrown off an outbound leg and couldn't use the inbound leg. Better, When the other airlines told them why, they wouldn't accept him either. I believe he came back by train and ferry at his one expense. Gerry Howard
