Prepar3D V2.4 patch will be released Monday 9/29/14

Recommended Posts

For those accidentally deleting files, there is a certain chance you have a backup somewhere around you don't recall. (i) Regular HD backup (I do it weekly), (ii) Simstarter makes backups of some system files when called, (iii) the Estonian Migration Tool keeps backups. Maybe there are even more programs which just don't come to my mind or which I don't use.

Kind regards, Michael

Unless you are deleting files or folders across a network, everything accidentally deleted should be recoverable from the Recycle Bin!

Just go there and do a one click Restore for the deleted stuff!

Er, a tiny percentage, and I don't do long flights... Its should be more a question of how long you spend on forums, instead of flying :P

I did the 2.4 patch successfully, but then thought I might need to update Orbx  i researched it and I found the following:

http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/68566-master-list-of-all-p3d2-ready-orbx-products/

In the copy of the text from the link above, seen below , the ORANGE highlight  is supposed to be indicative of P3dv  2.X compatibility.

FSX/P3D1/P3D2-Ready NOW

...does that mean that virtually nothing is compatible with P3dv2.x???

How come this idea? I guess you tried to make a ironic joke, isn't it?

Chas,

Everything listed on that page is compatible with P3D.  The color coding needs to be updated.

Yes, but it still means that a lot of ORBx products still do not have triple installers (and are therefore not officially compatible with P3D v2). The vast majority of the UK airfields are not included on that list, and aren't likely to be for some time by the look of it.

I know I'm not supposed to do this ... but well here goes ... the patch process does work ... on a side note I did have to installed FTX Global 1.3 and NCA again, but this could have been something I did inadvertently.

Here is what I'm not supposed to do ... but I supposed you could say in demonstrates a point that the patch process does work for many (but not all):

You can have these results and better if you persist with P3D v2.4.  I know hardware, but my CPU is now 3 generations old but the Titans do help ... I was at 4.2GB VRAM usage during these screenshot.  I know some people have been frustrated with the patch process ... part of me hopes LM move to the InstallShield installation/patch process rather than the using Microsoft's Installer SDK (aka .msp) ... but InstallShield can be a pretty daunting package also.  I don't "think" (as I'm certain it would require a full time resource) we'll see patches any time soon that can take into account the 1000's of add-ons and variance in OS/hardware options.

Anyway, hopefully these motivate.

Cheers, Rob.

Great shots - I didnt do anything Rob recommended - I had a fresh install of 2.3 and ftx global and ftx vector installed and said what the heck loaded 2.4 patch straight up thinking I would have to do a complete new install of 2.4 anyway but no need worked perfectly except for reloading vector as I had one scenery missing list error - so if I had a quite a bit of addons I would do a fresh install of 2.4 - this is the two paths I would take

Well sir Mr. Rod,

Since that page was written by or at least presumably approved by the president of the company, it doesn't say too much for Orbx's attention to detail now does it?

Now I have absolutely zero confidence on the validity of the products that I have bought from the big "O"

And that's a little bit scary...just sayin...

The only color coding used in that thread is that the FREEWARE airports are highlighted in pink! Nobody charges anyone a dime for all the work that goes into porting an airport or a region to P3D2 even though most were designed for FSX and at that time Lockheed Martin was a defense contractor! What's next, you "lose confidence" in the company and start bashing because they haven't ported everything over to MSTS for free too?!

Unbelievable!

Unbelievable!

WhoaaaaaaHoss...and chill!

What color do you see here? -> FSX/P3D1/P3D2-Ready NOW <-that is a direct copy from their page, and unless you are colorblind it is not pink.

if we are told that a certain color represents compatibility then I expect that to be the case. Period ...end of story.

I know you are sensitive as a premium scenery developer and the Absolutely deserved yet lacking appreciation from the flying public…for your and The Sterling ORBX freeware developer's efforts.

, but I was not talking about ANY FREEWARE...rather ....TO RE-STATE...

Quoting myself, I shall amend the line that seems to have everyone's    :t0103: up.

"Now I have absolutely zero confidence on the validity of the compatibility info of the wonderful products that I have bought from the big "O""...

...better?....that's what I meant guys...so lets not :t0152:

Orange is supposed to signify  packages that are currently compatible with P3DV2.x.

Freeware highlighted in pink

Be nice, no need for Drama.

Orbx have been regularly providing free P3D v2.x updates to their products ... they have A LOT so it's taking a while and some of the updates are not trivial as P3D introduces issues not in FSX.

Cheers, Rob.

hey Jim, be sure that OrbX gracious efforts to transport its older sceneries to P3D is very much appreciated  !
