Drzewiecki Designs - New York Airports X KLGA Extract

Featured Replies

DD must have different developers because their Tallinn X is excellent!

NYC airports should perform better based on their past work.

I give DD lots of credit for their Demos and their no hazzle installers.

Kuragiman, Thanks for video review of the DD KLGA scenery

That is because according to experts, NYC  even FSX default NYC scenery is extremely memory resource intensive while FSX default city of Tallinn is tiny and not memory resource hog

Here is the review of KLGA-La Guardia from the New York X pack. Could be better but I've seen worse in regards to performance.

Thanks for the review! Maybe I get KJFK since I'm only interested in KJFK and the FSDT version is too expensive for me, because I rarely visit the east coast.

With my system FSX default I'm locked at 30 with most aircrafts.

I currently have Manhattan X, Imaginesim KLGA, and FSDT KJFK enabled and I'm still in the low 20s with my NGX or Mustang. That's with WOAI at 20% and cars at 10%. SC & AG very dense. Good luck getting that with the DD's NYC enabled. NYC is not as bad as FTX Seattle.

Yes, I was experience low 20's and high teens in the cockpit and 30 FPS outside with 35% VoxATC AI traffic, nearly maxed out scenery with autogen completely off.  I could have probably turned autogen on since I was monitoring my Video and CPU usage and neither were maxing out.

Final verdict;   Great looking airport with moderate performance issues but still more than flyable even with AI traffic on and moderately dense weather over head.   This was right out of the box reviewing.  I am sure if I tweak things a bit I can get even more out of it.    I do not regret buying the pack.  It was a great deal!

Autogen to off causes performance problems with some addons. Aerosoft recommends at least sparse

You know I didn't look for it during the review.  I'll have to see.  Do you know which runway its suppose to be on?

I fly with autogen off 99% of the time as I usually don't fly with FTX Global.  I fly with MegasceneryEarth which has no autogen spawn points, only points for the baked in scenery which the Scenery Complexity slider handles.   Good to know though for those that fly with default or FTX Global.

Okay  I have decided to buy that DD scenery for KLGA.  Why?  SEVEN BUCKS is dirt cheap and safe bet. Heck one vendi size cup of Starbucks costs same!!!! And you do not get to keep Starbucks coffee forever!! But you can keep KLGA scenery forever if it works :)

How seven bucks??  Ok ok  DD is offering 30 percent off for all sceneries plus PC Avaitor website offers extra 10 percent off. That makes total of 40 percent off and it would be stupid of me to pass this chance up to see if it works on my laptop or not!!

When I have chance, I will let all of you know if DD's KLGA scenery can run well in my laptop!!

I have been waiting for FIVE YEARS to find decent KLGA scenery!!!

Regards,

Aharon

I installed DD's KLGA scenery and it seems to work very well without any problem in my laptop.

I do wish that DD would warn us that DD's KLGA scenery would automatically change your FSX's default settings.

According to DD,  their installer will automatically adjust the following settings: Ground scenery shadows (off), Bloom (off), Maximum texture resolution (4096x4096), Mesh resolution (2m) and vehicle/ship traffic (off).

It is easy to remember to turn on bloom or ground scenery shadows or vehicle/ship BUT it is hard to remember the past settings of Maximum texture resolution and Mesh resolution.

So far I do not see any problems while conducting ground testing on KLGA scenery in my laptop.  It looks it has same resource usage as Skysunjet KPHL scenery.

For SEVEN BUCKS,  it is GREAT price to buy KLGA scenery.

@Aharon: I agree, I couldn't leave it for just 7 bucks and I was also very much not amused by DD's automatic settings adjustments and only being able to read about it in the manual after installing..

Saving your settings within FSX can help you with this btw (for the next time, I know ) Creating multiple saved settings can also be useful if you want to change settings when flying vfr in your Cessna or high and fast in your jet.

Enjoy your KLGA!

Exactly!!!

Fortunately for me, I realized that I had FSX.CFG as back up 3 months ago somewhere in my laptop and retrieved that file for my amusement to see if there is difference between previous FSX.cfg and current present FSX.cfg.

While ignoring difference in bloom effect, ship/vehicle, and shadow effect as they are easy to remember to turn off or on, I did notice that the installation of DD's KLGA scenery did NOT make change to Maximum texture resolution which showed same number between previous and present FSX.cfg files.

Although I cannot find where Mesh resolution is located in previous and present FSX cfg files, I did notice that the previous FSX.cfg showed 50 percent of mesh setting and the present FSX.cfg showed 75 percent of mesh setting.  So in other words,  DD's scenery installation automatically just increased mesh resolution by 25 percent.  Looking at both FSX. cfg refreshened my memory. I remember before installation that I set 50 percent in Display tab of FSX settings and I noticed that after the installation of KLGA,  this Display Tab setting have been increased to 75 percent in everything.

Did not hurt my laptop's performance although.

KLGA scenery has famous original American Airlines hangers which please me.  I did notice one food cart truck on top of luggage tractor's trays but that is because I put on in settings for FSX default vehicles which might conflict with DD's vehicles considering the fact that DD calls for deactivation of FSX default vehicles.

I wish DD has specific gate numbers for famous shuttle building near runway where Delta and Eastern used for shuttles to Boston and DC.

I continue testing DD's KLGA which still looks pretty good. It even has cool Marine Terminal with lots of yellow cabs and cool jetways.

Everything looks good. I just discovered wrong taxiway markings with wrong numbers that I notified DD which immediately agreed to fix it soon and release the correcting update.

So far I am very please and it is WORTH seven bucks to get very famous American Airline maintenance hangers that I have been waiting for years to find!! What more can I ask??  Everything looks great and cool!!!

I have purchased DD's KJFK in the DD sale. Looks nice and the performance in P3D v2.4 is ok at daytime. However, at night it is unusable. I get less than 10 fps in the Aerosoft Airbus A318/A319. Anybody else also has the problem that the performs at night is much worse than at daytime?
