April 26, 200521 yr Does anyone know if the 2D panel that Airane now provides with the new -700 can be aliased to other aircraft? Misha
April 26, 200521 yr No idea...but my wildest guess is no.However why would you do that? The Ariane FDE is very good in my opinion.
April 26, 200521 yr I have no issues with the FDE. that's not what I am talking about. I simply prefer flying with 2D panels than with VCs. That is why I haven't even thought about buying their past VCE versions of the -600 and -900. The -700 is intriguing as it has a 2D panel. I would be interested in using it with their -800 which as of yet is lacking a panel altogether. I just want to know if there is anything preventing a plain and simple alias with another aircraft.Misha
April 27, 200521 yr WOW! I'd like to praise everyone of you, who has posted in this thread so far! That's the first Ariane Thread I remember, which had not to be locked by the mods! Everybody of you kept it civilized! I wished all threads about such controversial matters could be handled this way.Wolfgang :-wave
April 27, 200521 yr Well, after many months of avoiding the temptqtion of purchasing the Ariane, mainly because of past problems with PT, I broke down. I purchased the newest (700 series) Saturday. As stated in another post in this thread, don't bother with the online activation process. I tried it umteen times with no success. I did the off line registration and recieved my codes on Monday, no problem. I have flown about 2-3 hours so far so can't really give a complete opinion but so far it seems very good. I am a PMDG nut and have many, many hours in it. By comparison, the Ariane seems to have done a fine job on the model. It flies well, with everything working as advertised. The cockpit is a little blurry but not bad at all. On par with pretty much everything else out there. The systems modelling is very good. IRS alignment etc works well. The biggest complaint I have so far is an incomplete navdata set. I tried to set up the FMC for a flight from KATL to KPVD and the jetways and most waypoints did not exist. Hopefully this will be corrected. The "2d" veiw is not a true 2d view but does set the panel up with the pop up displays so that they are smooth and fluid. In the standard 3d veiw the displays are not fluid but as you know, this is pretty much the norm for FS. Overall I'd give it a B+. Would I pay darn near $100.00 again for it. No. But that is mainly because I am not a 3d panel fan. I must say that it is indeed a very good add-on. Am I still partial to the PMDG offering? Yup, but that probably has a lot to do with the time I have on it. Even though it is 2 years old now, it stands toe to toe with anything out there.
April 27, 200521 yr Hello!Good to see that there are people who find this addon not as bad as many would say.I know there where problems with navdata earlier on, but they have done some corrections on it.At least in the 900.What i am curious to know, is you say that the 2Di contains popups. In what way will this affect the framerate, if affected at all?I was planning to buy it, but already have both the 600 and 900.On the pricing, i would agree with you.
April 27, 200521 yr So then the 2Di is really just a particular view of the 3D panel with popups, or is it a proper 2D panel with panel bitmaps etc.?
April 27, 200521 yr "incomplete navdata set" That's strange George, I setup the same flight from KATL to KPVD and all waypoints (NAV) SID/STARS were there. Do you have the latest navdata set??? :-hmmm FS2020 Alienware Aurora R11 10th Gen Intel Core i7 10700F - Windows 11 Home 32GB Ram NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super OC 16GB - Pimax Crystal Light VR
April 27, 200521 yr Hey Dillon,I'm using the set that came with the package. I checked it against the one downloadable from the Ariane site. Same file size and date. I believe from Dec. 04. Hthe first waypoints Eaone and Spa and J14 but after that, darn near nothing.
April 27, 200521 yr Dillon,One other thing. It says in the FAQ that you can import a FS Flightplan using the CoRoute function but it doesn't seem to work. Have you had any luck with that? Thanks
April 27, 200521 yr :-lolThat one got me as well on my first try... The Ariane FMC is not like the PMDG version; you have to fill in all the blanks on the 'ACT RTE' page. What I do is fill in all the blanks (including takeoff runway), choose the 'CO Route' option to load up an FS flight plane, and then everything shows up. I haven't figured out how to manually punch in the route yet as it's a little different from the PMDG version. Now check out the rest of the plane's features and I'm sure the more you use it the more it's going to remind you of LDS. Keep us posted... April 27, 200521 yr Thanks Dillon,That did the trick. As long as I construct the FP in FS, everything is fine. If I build a FP with FSBuild for FS, it will not except. Guess that's where the somewhat incomplete NavData comes in.Thanks for the help
April 27, 200521 yr Great!!!George this reminds me of what starts the many negative rumors that come up with various products. Users either fail to read the manual or improperly try to use a feature. They turn around on sites like Avsim and report, "NavData and FMC doesn't work!!!" and everyone believes them. Case in point, the above post by Michael J... :-roll George get the freeware soundset by Des Braban located here on Avsim, it's perfect for the Ariane 737NG. I had to incorporate the interior sounds from his (Des Braban) PMDG version as those sounded better in the cockpit at 32,000ft.Have fun...
