Ariane Purchase?

Featured Replies

Is the -300 and -500 a fully featured product, or is it only the plane and no flight deck, or a 2d panel and no FMC? Because I might want one for my short range flights.*Edit* basically I'm just wondering what all is included, because when I went to the website, I couldn't find anything about panel and sounds and all that, I only saw the plane and like 2,000 liveries come with it or something. Thanks,Jeff

The panel is seperate. I believe I have sounds from another source. Both the COA733 and 735 are seperate so to get both with a panel took three seperate purchases. It's more complicated than the way PMDG does it but the 300 and 500 are both enjoyable to fly.

The '300 is just visual model and FDE. For free, the IFDG A32x offers more features if you need something to fill a short range niche. Also, Ariane charges per livery purchased--repainters are prohibited from offering any livery that Ariane sells unless it's for their own self consumption. In the days when there were no alternatives that strategy flew (even I bought the United 733 and I wasn't displeased with the visual model--it's still one of my best looking aircraft in FS2002), but today there's better options.-John

Guys I took the plug and spent the money on the Ariane 737-700 and I must say it's fantastic. Yes the VC is slightly blurry on my system but the system modeling is second to none. It is diffidently on the level of LDS's 767. It's just as good as the PMDG model if not better in some ways (framerates to be exact). I love the feature where you actually site in the pushback truck and move the throttle lever and turn the wheel to steer your aircraft into position. I love how you can click on the overhead door lights to open the various doors on the aircraft (including the stairs). If you forget to turn on your window heat your windows will fog over as you reach higher altitude. During takeoff roll your VC bounces from the bumps on the runway. All lights work correctly meaning, runway turnoff lights actually control the correct lights, the logo lights switch actually turns on the rear tail lights. I

Hi moss1,Can u tell me which email id you sent them a mail to? I amm having the same issue as yours but it has been 5 days and no response from them as yet.Thanks.Dinshaw.

Well done Dillon...you're a brave man speaking up for a company that has had more vitriol poured over it than I've drunk pints of finest pale ale. I haven't got the Ariane, but ironically all the negativity about the company, most of it appearing to based on prejudice rather than direct experience, had aroused my interest and may even lead to me purchasing this product, especially now I've read some of your comments. As you say: "It's a shame such a great add-on will go un-noticed by many."

I'd love to purchase the Ariane 737, but the price is just absolutley ridiculous. If this company wants to get into the "mainstream" add-on market (with PMDG, LevelD, etc) they are going to have to set some freaking reasonable prices. From the screenshots, etc it looks like a great add-on. But $100? No thank you. If it was $100 from one of the more well known add-on makers who I KNOW make good add-ons, I would consider it. But this is just too much money for a company with such a sordid past. Ariane is going to have to lower the price if they want more new customers.

Thank you Dillon! At last someone speeks nice about theese great aircrafts. I must admit that I've barely flown anything else since the 737-600Ng VC arrived my computer last October. I buy a couple of new ac's every month, and of course the Level-D 767 occupied me for some time. But after a while I always return to the great cockpit of the 600Ng with the TrackIR running.Sadly the reputation of this company, makes too few of us sharing the joy of this outstanding product. "God forgives, flightsimmers don't!" Well I did, and after I've finished this message, I will go straight ahead and purchase the 700 as well. The price may offend, but considered all time spent with theese great Ariane products, it's worth every cent. And for the cockpit blurryness, editing all the pixel_size=...,... entries in the panel.cfg to pixel_size=1024,1024 did the trick in my cockpit.

>Yes the VC is slightly>blurry on my system but the system modeling is second to none.>It is diffidently on the level of LDS's 767. Well, either Ariane updated this product or it is not true. Svein Hansen posted here a long Ariane-PMDG review in August last year (deemed to be very objective at that time) and he had completely diferent things to say about systems and VCs frame rates but he had o lot of praise for other features of the Ariane product.Michael J.WinXP-Home SP2,AMD64 3500+,Abit AV8,Radeon X800Pro,36GB Raptor,1GB PC3200,Audigy 2http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/747400.jpg

Hello All,You know, I'm gonna stick my .06 cents in here, some of you will agree and some won't, and those that don't, well, tough -- you are entitled to your opinion just as I am.I think Dillon has it pretty down pat. All the BS about Ariane and PT happened almost a decade ago . . . some of those who #### and complain weren't even into Flight Simming then, and probably still crapping their diapers, but yet we seem to hear from them. Now, I do know a few who were hurt by PT and the bankruptcy, or whatever they call it in the UK . . . sorry guys, that's bussiness and S**t happens.I lost 80% of my retirement, when WorldCom and Ennron went belly up . . . (that amounts to about 5k per month for those so inclined to know), and it killed me . . . I don't #### and moan about it, nor cry, I just get on with the program and am more careful where I put my money. The same is true with PT and all involved. The UK Government did what they felt is best, the man is free and not in jail, so the Govt had its play and that is it. End of damned story. On pricing, well, if, I guess they sold more copies of their offering and were a bit more profitable, I'm sure the price would go down. Now granted, some have valid complaints, and I do believe they SHOULD have a forum, but that's their business, and nothing we can do will change that one -- that's up to Ariane. On the quality of their products, well, I own the new Sky Europe 737, and in truth, after taking the time to read the manual, (yes, Bubba, you have to read the manual if you want to operate this aircraft properly), I have had NO, I'll repeat that NO, problems with it at all and fly it as my 737 offering. It DID take time to master all the little in's and out's of this aircraft, however, once done, it it a pleasure to fly and I happen to like it. Considering that I am a real world pilot, and do have a half assed idea of what I am doing, I like it . .. the price was a bit steep but what the ####, so is gas now adays -- it takes 100 dollars of diesel fuel to haul my nags to any horse show . . .and I get about the same enjoyment from both.My final point is this: You can only beat on something so long until it becomes like a dead skunk in the middle of the road . . . garbage!Let Ariane fly or crash on their merits . . . ad oh, by the way, the longest time it has ever taken them to answer an e mail to me, is 48 hours and that was on a weekend. I know that some developers do it within ten minutes, and some don't do it at all, so considering the weekend and the time involved, I don't think that is out of range.Should I have felt Ariane did not give me my money's worth, I would say so . . .do I wish it was cheaper? Of course . . . but I paid the price and I happen to like it.It's time just to give it a break, walk away and either buy the products or not buy them . . . the old witch hunt is long past due to be put to rest. Oh, and one last subject, theft. It seems every time Ariane offers a new product some cute little hacker offers it up on the web for free, thinking he's doing the world a favor . . . wrong, it's stealing and that is against the law, and you should go to jail. Also, there are a few freeware packages out there, (I won't mention names but you all know them), that have stolen about everything they can from Ariane and think its ok because there is this witch hunt against them. Well, those of you that do that are scum and need to have 'Bubba' as a cellmate . . .because it's stealing and someone didn't raise you properly, and you have a warped sense of values! And if you thieves don't like that, I'll gladly supply you with my address and you can come and try to whip my butt . . . however let me remind you, old as I am, I'm a dead-nuts shot with a 10mm at 50 yards, so be forwarned. Sorry, I just don't care for people who steal and rip off someones work -- anyones work, as it only does damage to MY hobby!People, we have a great hobby here -- All the bad that can be said about Ariane has been said, and re said. I have their new product and I happen to like it . . . you draw your own conclusions, but only offer them if you OWN the product . . . ownership gives your statement validity. Non ownership just makes you a member of the witchhunt mob.Best to all, Sorry for the rant,ClayClayton T. DopkeMajor, USAF (retired)"Drac"
