Need advice between two planes to purchase next.

Can't decide which one to get next, the Carenado PC 12 FSX or the Aerosoft Twin Otter Extended. I like realism in both flight dynamics and operation of the plane, no "E" key for me. I also like compatibility with the following;

ASN

EZdok

PFPX

Steve's DX10 Fixer

Thanks for your time and consideration. I am leaning towards the Twin Otter.

Haven't got the PC12 but the Twin Otter is very good. Usual Aerosoft quality for both the VC and the external model with some clever touches - you can click items in the checklist to either take you to the switch/control or to move it to the correct position. Not really an aircraft you can just jump into without reading the manuals but if you like realism, it's highly recommended.

Aerosoft's Extended Twotter is extremely versatile (STOL, amphibian and more), has engine failures modelled (overtorque, for example; failure mode can be switched off), icing effects (also visually), and the autopilot is capable of a true "pitch for speed" (speed hold mode).

If you configure the Ext. Twotter with failures off, you can load her "ready for takeoff", jump in, and just have fun - or choose the more professional flow and checklist approach with it.

Glad you're leaning towards it already.   B)

The Twin Otter really is a great plane.  A lot of fun to fly with good accuracy of the systems.  You need to follow startup procedures and monitor engines.  You won't be disappointed.

Here's another vote for the Twin Otter.  It's one of the best products of 2013 in my opinion.

I don't think PFPX has a profile for the Twin Otter, but I could be wrong.  Be aware also that it comes with the default FSX GPS and you can't put the RealityXP into the cockpit (but I think you can add it as a popup, though I haven't tried).  When I'm in the Otter I shut off the GPS and fly it old-school.

It works great with the other add-ons you mention.

Don't have the PC12.

RXP popup possible for the Ext. Twotter for sure. And PFPX can create flightplans in native FSX format, too, so the Twotter can still follow that flightplan in GPS mode.

ASN is great for any GA plane, for a bush plane in particular, because it creates those cool up- and downdraughts depending on terrain features ...

I have both...never fly either.  The PC12 has enough bugs and missing functionality at this point that I just don't like it.  I have the twotter but have never figured out how to get my view so the yoke is in not in the way.  If I had to chose between them, though, it would be the twotter.

Another vote for the Twotter, fantastic aircraft.  It's a lot of fun to hand fly, i use it for short and often rough flights between the Scottish islands.

A lot of my Carenados don't land right.  When I am on final, the closer I get to ground, the aircraft float all over the place side to side and are impossible to line up with runway and land.  Is this an issue with just the Carenados?

Never heard that.  Which ones and what airplanes don't?

Note on the Aerosoft Twin Otter Extended, Ski / wheels model ...

do not try to retract or extend the ski ... it is not modeled (animated) .. always in the down (snow landing) position.

Aerosoft did model the ski (up/down) operation properly on their earlier Beaver aircraft.

Well, Twin Otter it is, thanks everyone. Was secretly hoping it would be the Otter.  I really miss my ATR 72.
