Which flightplanner should I buy??

Featured Replies

Hi,I was wondering which flighplanner I should buy?? The one from Jeppesen (Jetplan.com) or FSBUILD??Let me know,Ramon

Hi Ramon,If you have/want-to-spend that kind of money...Jeppesen Flitestar and the subscribtion to the weather server is truly superb.Fliteplanning is now a breeze, nice printed Navlogs, and Pete Dowson's FStarRC can make the program output flightplans for FS and Radar Contact.

I would recommend FSBuild. Used the freeware version initially and then upgraded to version 2 and have been very well pleased with it.With the freeware version available, you could certainly "try" before you "buy" and see if you like it.Ed GreenKCLThttp://www.panelshop.com/DEV.jpg

If you want to just do the flightplanning and not navigation - FSBuild 2 is the most powerful and flexible one out there IMO. It exports to almost any addon imagineable too.If you want a flightplanner that can help with navigation then I recommend FSNavigator, it's not as powerful for flightplans, but it can do all the navigation work for you and acts as an FMS - which is great if you don't use payware addon plane that have FMS units in them.

I just use this free planner:http://rfinder.asalink.net/free/I also have FSNavigator and like it as well. (I plug the plans generated by the website directly into FSNav).

Thanks people but I'm looking to some serious things. Ie. ETP point calculations and such.... I know FSBUILD is a very good one but FlightPlan.com is maybe better...

Can you plug in the FP from rfinder to FSNav with the free version, or do I need the pay version of rfinder? Thanks, Bob

I use this one:http://www.danur.com/frontpage/prod01.htmThis one isn't bad too, though a bit more pricey. It's still MUCH cheaper that Jeppesen and the most accurate flight planner I've ever used for simulation aviation.I know that ETP's are plotted, STOPS/EROPS/ETOPS are supported, TRUNC Routes can be defined, and NAT operations are also supported. It has a steep learning curve, but can be mastered by us "Joe Blow"s.

There is a very good free planner by a guy named Alessandro Antonini that you can get from the library... It is call Super Flight Planner or SPF for short.... I used it for years and have it to be quite good... You might want to at least take it a look... It also has just been rewritten so it is up to date...Ron Mashburn

RonI have downloaded Superflight planner but the Database wizard always crashes unless i deselect all of my addon airports.Which is a pity as it looks to be a really nice peice of software, did you have any problems with the wizard ?

Free SFP Here in the libraryhttp://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID...util&DLID=58247A more recent build is located on his home page here:http://www.cpinf.net/web/products.phpThis is by Alessandro Antoniniaopa.gif" border="0" alt="Grab My FREEWARE Voice recognition Profiles here:[a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fs2004misc&DLID=58334]Cessna 172 Voice Profile[/a][a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fs2004misc&DLID=60740]FSD Avanti Voice Profile[/a].You will need the main FREEWARE Flight Assistant program to use it, get it here:[a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=genutils&DLID=39661]Flight Assistant 2.2[/a]

Ramon, people have given a lot of good advice, but for me FSBuild V2 is just an excellent flight planner. As a realworld ex-USAF navigator, I know navigation and the tools that one needs to do an excellent job. FSBuild meets all those requirements. You can't beat FSBuildBob

Thanks allot people for your advise.I'll let you know wat I decided.

FSNavigator is my choice... and it will use all your addon airports. Even if you add a new one, or one with new runways that have been built. You just rescan your database and it adds them.Bob
