December 8, 201411 yr Hello folks, our assignment for today is to take DHL 6001 from Shanghai Pudong (ZSPD) to Chep Lap Kok (VHHH) in our trusty Airbus A300B4. Our route for today: AND12D AND DCT TOL A599 PLT W19 NOMAR W18 NLG W23 ZUH R473 SIERA SIER7A Alternate airport is Macau Intl (VMMC). The aircraft is waiting for us at STAND 320, to the west cargo area of Pudong. Our flight plan for today: DEP: ZSPD/PVG:35R ELEV:13 FT MACH: M.78 TTL G/C DIST: 678NM ARR: VHHH/HKG:07L ELEV:28 FT INIT ALT: FL341 TTL F/P DIST: 855NM ALT: VMMC/MFM: 34 ELEV:20 FT 142 NM FUEL BIAS: 100.0% TTL AIR DIST: 989 NM AVG WIND CMP: HD055 KT CONFIG DOW PAX CARGO TOTAL ULOAD LIM 192600 0 40887 40887 39886 ZFW TOW LDW PLN 233487 275772 246512 MAX 273373 365740 295419 Fuel situation is as follows: FUEL CORR ENDUR TRIP 29260 ........ 02:26 CONT 5% 1463 ........ 00:09 ALTN VMMC 6990 ........ 00:36 FINAL RESV 4572 ........ 00:30 MIN T/O 42285 ........ 03:41 TAXI 550 ........ 00:10 RELEASE 42835 ........ 03:51 Let's review the weather: Local weather is good, just a bit foggy. Conditions enroute are good, we are expecting medium to strong headwinds in our first segment of the flight, then 90 to 120kt crosswind once we fly our south-westernly course to Hong Kong. Conditions at Chep Lap Kok are good as well, with a morning mist reducing our visibility to some 4 to 6 nautical miles. Wind is gently blowing from the north, so we are expecting to land either in runway 07L or 07R. Hopefully ATC will let us land in the southern runway of VHHH (07R) in order to reduce our taxi time to our cargo warehouse. Our final weather item shows light showers over our alternate airport in Macau. It is possible that the storm could move to the northeast and degrade the weather at VHHH. Hopefully this will happen after we land, so it is a good thing to be on time (at least for now). We will depart using Runway 35R. The SID we'll fly is AND12D. Let's head to the stand 320 to meet our aircraft: The availability of an FMC and an ND in our cockpit means this is an upgraded Airbus A300B4 aircraft. This will help us use RNAV routes and procedures, and save the airline some money! Ok, preflight is done, permission to push and start has been obtained. Two good engine starts, thanks and 'see you soon' to our friends at Air China ground services that have pushed our aircraft into position. DHL 6001 is ready to taxi to runway 35R. We are just near our runway entry point and Tower let us know we are to Line Up and Wait. Advance throttles to 70%, engines stabilized, TOGA, Flex power set. V1, VR, V2... positive rate... gear up! "DHL 8061, contact departure..." We are half way our SID, passing ten thousand feet. Smooth sailing towards Hong Kong. Level'd at FL350. Time to grab some coffee and stretch our legs. Nice view. We have begun our descent into Chep Lap Kok. We are flying the published STAR: SIERA 7A. We hit a few layers of broken clouds, but that doesn't prevent us from enjoying a smooth approach into VHHH. ATC has given us the option to fly the 07R RNAV approach, so good news is this will reduce or taxi time. After a layer of fog, we are presented with a nice view of the airport (by the way, Taxi2Gate has done a cool job on this airport. Very nice textures and super smooth FPS). We are a bit high on our approach, but it's compensated by a smooth touchdown. Autobrakes low, idle reverse thrust. Total flight time: 2:20. Welcome to Hong Kong. We exit the active as intended via Kilo 5. Our taxi route is to make a right turn on Kilo, then a left at Lima 2, and then into our stand right next to our warehouse. And here we are Ladies and Gentlemen, unloading cargo pallets at Taxi2Gate newest baby, Hong Kong's Chep Lap Kok International Airport!. Thanks for reading! cheers -E Enrique Vaamonde

December 10, 201411 yr Author Thank you all for the nice comments, amigos! Epic! Great flight report and love the cockpit grab images. Very immersive! The Simcheck A300 is a very nice aircraft... the analogue cockpit, while with dated graphics to 2014 standards, is still is quite enjoyable! Cheers -E Enrique Vaamonde
