December 12, 201411 yr I have recently installed P3D on my system. I also have REX4 and ASN. However, water is dead stagnant. No animation, no movement, even on a stormy day. The water looks like a deep-blue painting of what's supposed to be water. And, to make it worse, it shines (with the sun) like metallic painted metal- horrible ! I have updated REX4 to latest updates, and have my P3D settings on high. Can anyone provide any pointers as to how to get water movement on P3D? Ricky Torbe
December 12, 201411 yr You need to set mesh to 1m and have tessellation active to get waves. Simmerhead - Making the virtual skies unsafe since 1987!
December 12, 201411 yr I have recently installed P3D on my system. Also REX is working on issues you are seeing with some new textures to address a lot of issues but have seen nothing (screenshots) to show this in the new texture update coming - been very quiet in rex forums unfortunately - its going to beta testing next week but some shots now would have been great Rich Sennett

December 12, 201411 yr Rex sp3 has been released with new water/waves... Did not try it yet. Hi Gerard - unfortunately I am using rex4 but maybe what they have done there would give us an idea of what to expect in rex4 - let me know what you think buddy Rich Sennett
December 12, 201411 yr Resetting the mesh and activating tessellation will not solve the problems with the water in P3D. As Rick says, it looks like a static painting at anything above a thousand feet. The REX guys have apparently made some modifications for the SP3 update to REX Essential Plus, but I will not be able to check these out until they upload the full new build to my FSS account. As for REX4, similar modifications will be available when they release Texture Update 2. Let's just hope that both of these make the water look more "alive". December 13, 201411 yr Author REX 4 Texture Direct SP4/Texture Update #2 will be available this early next week. This includes a fix for the wave animations just like SP3 for REX Essentials.Reed, Ive had REX Essentials Plus on FSX for a long time. Then I bought REX4 thinking it "was the next big thing" Can I have both installed at the same time? And if yes, which one Will the Sim go by? Or,who's settings and textures will it use? Water Animation/ Water Flow: Back in the days with FS9, along came one of the greatest "Sim improvement guy"- Jeezus Altuve, Bojote...In fact a real Genius... Super smart, yet very humble (haven't seen any similar much recently.). The guy thought us how to manipulate the water XML to increase animation, height, direction, flow, speed, etc . I had a flow of years of excitement by adjusting the waters to my desire. The water animation look so impressive, I could swear I could dip my hand in the screen and touch water. Since then, never seen water that good. Today P3D's water literally makes me want to go back to FS2004.YES, that bad. I hope you guys can find a fix. I hope the Surprise you have is liVing Water. December 13, 201411 yr Can I have both installed at the same time? And if yes, which one Will the Sim go by? Or,who's settings and textures will it use? Yes - the last texture insertion will over ride any others - doesnt matter which program is injecting all its doing is copying new textures into your sim texture folder Rich Sennett
