December 21, 201411 yr Hi Guys, I haven't seen this issue reported anywhere else, leading me to believe it's just me! How uncanny! Anyways, here are a couple of screenshots. The landing lights always seem way off from the airplane. Happens on AI traffic and the user aircraft. The further away they are the worse it gets. Please tell me someone knows what's going on! December 21, 201411 yr Commercial Member The problem is that you have an non-standard halo.bmp where the lights are incorrectly aligned. I presume that they will look the same in DX9 as well but regardless if you find the original halo.bmp it will resolve your issue. My FSX Analysis Blog
December 21, 201411 yr Author Have you installed shockwave 3d redux lights recently.Bob No idea what that is Bob. The problem is that you have an non-standard halo.bmp where the lights are incorrectly aligned. I presume that they will look the same in DX9 as well but regardless if you find the original halo.bmp it will resolve your issue. Steve thanks for that, I will try and find the original file and replace it and see how it goes. Will post back here once I do that. Cheers! December 21, 201411 yr Commercial Member Capt Speirs reported exactly the same issue and his photos look identical to yours. Reverting to an older halo.bmp from a REX texture Backup resolved it for him so I am fairly confident that's the issue here. My FSX Analysis Blog
December 21, 201411 yr Author You were right Steve, I replaced the halo.bmp with the original file and then re installed my rex textures and everything is back to normal. Well, on the ground that is. Turns out my Sun has gone all wonky. Just so you know what I've been upto, I had installed nickn's sunfix to my fsx, and this was well after I had made the switch to DX10 and it was working fine upto now. Here is a screenshot. I'm not sure if this was related to the landing lights going wonky? Previously I had noticed that my lens flare was not working correctly. I get the glare but not light refractions or whatever you call them. Now even after going back to the original sun effects, nothing has changed. Here is a screenshot of when the lens flare should be active. But it just shows the glare and nothing else. December 21, 201411 yr Commercial Member You could read this thread http://forum.avsim.net/topic/434255-problem-with-the-sun/page-2 Its not the same issue but you need to increase the sun size to fill the space. For lens flare - check if your VC camera is set in the camera.cfg to show lens flare - the default is not to. My FSX Analysis Blog
December 22, 201411 yr Author Ok after a whole heap of fiddling around, I've got the sun back to normal. But lens flare is still a no go. I did as you said and changed the "ShowLensFlare" option to true, but nothing happened. Also after looking around online someone had mentioned adding "clipmode=Minimum" but that didn't help either. Could you tell me what the .bmp files are for the lens flare so I could double check that I have them?Cheers Steve! December 23, 201411 yr Author i have the same issue after updating REX4. There is a halo.bmp in /fsx/textures and also in /fsx/effects/textures, Which one should be replaced ? And where can i find a backup ? Hey Michael, My Sun issue popped up right after the REX update, wonder what that's all about. As far as the halo.bmp file goes, I had only one in the fsx/textures folder, and replacing that one fixed the issue for me. I did a search around online and I found a guy who had modified the halo file and uploaded it. And luckily for me he had put the original halo file in the zip file. ^_^ Don't forget to install your REX textures again after replacing the file. There should be a folder in the zip file called 'defolt' or something. Still trying to figure out my lens flare issue. Any ideas anoyone? December 23, 201411 yr Author Every time i install new textures from REX4 with latest update the halo.bmp gets overridden with a version time stambled 24-9-2013 13:14 Michael Moe Well that's a bit strange mate, doesn't happen to me. Maybe Steve can help you out with that one. As I'm hoping he'll tell me what's wrong with my lens flare! Intel Core i7-6700k CPU Overclocked to 4.50GHz - 16GB RAM, Nvidia Geforce GTX980ti 6GB, Windows 10 Home 64-bit
December 23, 201411 yr Commercial Member @Michael I would contact Tim at REX and explain your problem with that Halo.bmp version to him. @Rancid(?!) can you see lens flare when you are outside the cockpit - does it work if you switch to DX9 - Do you have LensFlare ticked in FSX settings Display - if it works in DX9 does it work in DX10 if you uninstall the libraries and run in native DX10? My FSX Analysis Blog
December 24, 201411 yr Author Randy. ^_^ Nope, no lens flare outside the cockpit, no lens flare in dx9, and not in native dx10 either. Bizzare! I'm pretty sure the files are there though. flare1, 2, 3? And it does get called up in the suneffect.cfg Intel Core i7-6700k CPU Overclocked to 4.50GHz - 16GB RAM, Nvidia Geforce GTX980ti 6GB, Windows 10 Home 64-bit
