I'll be following suit. :-(It's a sad state of affairs when people can't move away from the TV and learn something.Carmine http://forums.avsim.net/images/wave.gif

That's about my thoughts on the matter too. Also consider the fact that console players want excitement not mundane trips across the Atlantic in a jumbo jet. I'd susptect that the CFS series would be a much better prospect for XBox.

>With the few games out now that support "lower">resolutions on a HD capable tv, there is no problem>whatsoever. There are virtually no jaggies, and fine print is>quite easy to read. So enough with the "it can't be done>because of screen resolution".Your opinion. I've seen XBOX on HDTV and it IN NO WAY compares to what I see on this screen. 1080i x 720i is NOT COMPARABLE to 1600 x and beyond. No way, never will, and it shows. As in less than 40% of the resolution, and when spanned over a typical HD monitor, it gets worse. I am looking at .22 grille pitch. Of course it can be done, but without comparable quality IMO. All they need to do is allow for output to a PC monitor with resolutions currently available.

I've read this whole thread and the ones in the past that was similar. It didn't happen then and I doubt it will now that MS would move FS 100% to console. Just one good reason:Did anyone think about the cost issue?Consider this. First you need to buy the sim, CHACHING! $50+(?) I don't have XBox so if FS becomes an XBox only title I, along with many others, will have to purchase a console, CHACHING! $400. Don't have HD TV and regular TV wouldn't provide decent enough resolution to sim on so I purchase HD TV CHACHING! $1500+. My current controller, Saitek X-45 doesn't work and probably won't work with a console (can't install drivers on a console) and vice versa so I'll have to purchase a dedicated controller, CHACHING! $200.Now for other things addressed in this thread. If it isn't going to be a stripped down version of FS then it will need a keyboard and mouse, CHACHING! $100+. Where are we now? Somewhere around the neighborhood of $2,250. What about add ons. We know the sim isn't at it's best right out of the box so to download and install add ons we'll need some way to either port things over to the console from the PC or some way to download and install extras directly with the console, CHACHING! $100-$200 (possibly not including high speed access for our consoles). So that's somewhere around $2,350-$2,450 to convert from PC to console. Now how many simmers have that kind of money laying around? I sure don't, do you? I doubt that MS has the idea that we have that kind of cash either.

Quite bluntly, if you think MS would move the Flight Sim franchise to a console, you need your head checked. Why would Microsoft abandon the worlds most popular PC-based flight simulator? Sure - they may produce some sort of flight game/simulation for their new console, but I don't think they'd ever be so dumb as to drop what has proven to be one of their most POPULAR entertainment titles (a surefire moneymaker!) from the lineup just because they want folks to move to the console. Look at Falcon 4 and Fly! 2 - both have ongoing, active development communities well after the twilight of their "official" development. Even if MS did make the dumb decision to halt PC sims, I have little doubt that the talented developers in the community would continue to extend the existing sim - at least until a smarter new company filled the gap with a new simulation platform. Let it be known that there is absolutely NO indications that MS is leaning this way!!!!Perhaps when the console opens up a bit and gets more interactive (eg: Give me a keyboard, mouse, and yoke), I'll consider it. But you say console, I think Nintendo Entertainment System. I really don't think I'll EVER be using a pencil eraser to clean the contacts on the cartridge before sliding it in and powering up to the next gen flight sim....You say next-gen console flight sim, I think "Afterburner" with nice scenery. Darn I have to get some sleep...-Greg

>Would this be a console platform flight simulator game, using>aircraft, scenery and flight dynamics created only by>Microsoft? If so, they would need to improve their previous>creative efforts by several orders of magnitude to interest me>in such a game. >Have you read the above response? I guess not as it answers some or most of your questions. But even so, remember that there's well over a million, possibly over 2 million MSFS users out there who never purchase or download an addon at all and are quite happy with what they get out of the box.Microsoft can afford to loose the few hardcore users who scream bloody murder about the defaults constantly. In fact they'd probably be happy to loose us as we're a source of constantly increasing support and development cost on their end.

Most people still run FS at 1024x768 or even 800x600 and for them there would be no difference in resolution or even an improvement.

At least if the FS is on the PC, your SO can>watch TV. Make no mistake about HD:1280 by 720 (HD res) at ten feet away from a large HDTV (Say 46" or larger) looks much better than 1600 by 1200 sitting 1 foot away.

Also to add to that, we've all seen PS2 and original Xbox on HDTV, but the content isn't HD, and was being up-sampled to 1080i; That

Greetings!"(...) that's somewhere around $2,350-$2,450 to convert from PC to console. Now how many simmers have that kind of money laying around? I sure don't, do you? (...)"I don't have it laying around either, but... it's just about the money I spend yearly on cigars. So stopping smoking will take me there in one year. Shutting down my websites that hardly anybody visits anyway will produce another 600 or so bucks a year. Getting rid of the habit of buying add-ons that I use two or three times and then delete again, will save me several hundreds again. Then there's a few other pleasurable activities that are rather non-essential so I can cut down on them. Staying away from EBay will also help.Wrapped up: it's all a matter of making choices. I'm just your average guy with an underpaid job, a mortgage to pay, married, with two teenage daughters who go through cloths and shoes like crap through a goose, but even I can without making undue sacrifices buy any rig I want after just one year of saving through the time-proven method of good clean (and sensible) living.I won't say 3 or 4 thousand US bucks (or my local equivalent in euros) is exactly peanuts, but it sure is far less than it seems when one considers ones way of life, and decides to make some sensible changes in it.Be well!Jaap Verduijn.

Personally, I think it is a hoax.If you run a search on all the games in this unofficial list, FLIGHT SIMULATOR X is the only one that you can't find any information on.And as for keyboard input, this was taken from Gamespot's interview with Chris Satchell from XNA Microsoft."We also asked Chris Satchell, the General Manager of XNA at Microsoft if we could possibly connect a USB keyboard to the 360. He told us that, "we will allow you to plug in a USB keyboard. It's very useful for the text entry. What we're not enabling it for, we're not enabling it for gameplay." So the keyboard is a go for text entry, but a no-go for game control."In my personal opinion I dont think it exists and even if it does who says it's Microsofts Flight Simulator X? Or that it is a civilian flight sim at all? Then again I could be wrong! XBOX 360 certainly does look like one powerful machine. Just my 2 pounds worth. Rhydian
