The new Flight Simulator X - for XBox 360 (???)

Yes you have to treat it as rumour because there is tons of disinformation going around. Some more impressive then others. What about this video on the revolution? How many could spot this was a fake? http://rapidshare.de/files/1741533/Nintend...lution.wmv.html Go to the bottom of the page and click free and then you'll most likely have to wait in line to download it (which should only take around a minute)Now look at it. I agree with Greg,XBox can be expanded to accept more peripherals like joysticks and, for flight simulator, yoke and pedals and throttle quadrants as options. Then can it even begin to replace the PC version but even then, there is the issue of add-ons...John

>If it is true, and I don't see why it wouldn't be, I HOPE>they come out with a PC version too. Otherwise that would be>horrible for freeware and payware products out there.I would not jump to that conclusion just yet ... XBOX360 will have a store front associated with this platform for the multiple purposes one of them being to add additional content to titles .....Vern

>Hello All,>>Well, I for one believe as long as we have other games for the>PC, we will have Flight sim for the PC. Agreed ... but, i am very nervous about the state of PC games ... it comes to bear everytime i walk into a game stop, EB, microcenter, etc. 10 yrs ago .. the shelf space for PC games as 80% with those stores. 5 yrs ago ... down to 30%. Today, approx 10% and dropping ....As a for profit organization (MS) ... this trend is evident as well ... :-(Vern

If you are viewing from 12" you are too close :() But that aside, taking your logic you would have to have a screen probably 80" wide to have things appear equivalent in size versus looking at a 22" screen from 1 foot. Naturally, if you take a smaller field and look at it from farther away things look relatively more crisp--even if you can't read the screen. As I said, and will say over n over, make the fricken thing compatible with PC screen resolutions and get it over with! Doesn't sound too terribly difficult. If I had the video horsepower I would run my own machine at this screen's top resolution of 2048 x 1536, and with .22 grille pitch? Much much cleaner . . .

Hi folks.,I do not want to interupt a very interesting thread with a potentially irrelevant question, but i have to ask..I have not read all the posts regarding XBox and FS, but i did notice that one poster said that there may be(?), a port connection from your PC to the console. However, if FS is designed to work with windows then how could all your downloads and add-ons operate inside a console?Just a thought CheersDan:-)

Hello All, as Dan mentioned, a most interesting thread -- however, if you look at the AVSIM members numbers, and then add in FlightSim.com's members, and divide by, oh, let's say .66%, that could be the number of hard core simmers in the world who fool with upgrading and don't just use the default sim. I'm probably being generous there but for sake of clairity, we'll go with that number. We are a VERY SMALL COMMUNITY, to say the least! I'm not sure what MS is going to do, but I'd be willing to bet that FS will remain a PC game and if XBox gets Flight Sim X, it will be a scaled down version with some new, whiz bang features. If the PC hardware continues to increase in speed and horsepower, then the PC game is here to stay even though its numbers will remain smaller than XBox, or PS2 or whatever. If the hardware remains stagnant, well, I fear that its XBox for sure.Personally, I'm to the point I don't care. I love the addon's I have, and would miss new offerings, but I have a feeling that most of the hard core simmers would find ways to improve our PC based hobby to let it set new marks in speed, fps and aircraft and scenery.Remember guys, it was only 6 years or so ago that FS98 was stil the hot item and if you had a P 100, wow, you were on the cutting edge of high tech! Time will tell, and we'll just have to wait and see what develops ... in the meantime, I'm going to go fire up my Level D767 and take a few trips around the globe . . . one thing about it, they can't take away what we have, at least I don't think they can LOLBest to allClayhttp://www.dreamfleet2000.com/gfx/images/F...ers/Dopke01.jpgClayton T. If they keep with a PC version all the better still. If they do not, then third party developers, who really make FS rock, will have a constant base code to work with. Interesting what those guys think.Cheers Dan :-)

FS for X-Box...sure.Replace the PC version...never.MSFS is being used as a real trainer, by many folks. If anything, I expect the next cycle of FS to strive to be "certified". If X-Plane can do it, so can Microsoft. This whole discussion reminds me of the shark tales just prior to 9/11. Much talk about a non-existant problem. My 2 cents of course...take em' for what they are worth.bt

This is an interesting topic. It's a little scary since rumors of FSs next installment being for the new Xbox have been discussed in this forum from a year ago or more, I kind of wonder where all these rumors are coming from, and is there NO truth, none whatsoever to these rumors(?), it seems unlikely. There is a rule of seven or something that says that everyone is connected through seven people or less, it's not improbable that someone in the FS community knows someone on the FS team happened to get some first hand info and leaked it out. I know this is all conspiracy theory, but I wish that the MSFS team would at least disspell or confirm these rumors. It's too bad the MSFS team don't have any email address posted, so that we could write to them personally, I'm sure if they knew what we were discussing, they'd be quick to give us a headsup.Jeff

There will always be rumours of course even if nothing is true. I have seen 10 designs of the XBOX 360 already and a lot of different specs ;)

Latest from the IFC site"IFC News Flash: The US team from Microsoft will be attending IFC 2005 and will be giving an exclusive to IFC one hour seminar, to be held on both Saturday and Sunday. This will be an event you will NOT want to miss!!" Interesting, very interesting!:) Victor
