I wouldn't be suprised if FS10 appears first with the new XBOXStelios

and only slightly less surprised if that's the only platform it appears on.

If it is true, and I don't see why it wouldn't be, I HOPE they come out with a PC version too. Otherwise that would be horrible for freeware and payware products out there. Looks like I'll be enjoying FS9.1 for years!

Well, let's keep our fingers X'ed :-eek for a new PC version! But, since Microsoft have recently implemented a feedback program for PC users, including a utility that monitors FS usage on their PC's, I'm quite confident there will be another PC version too...The X360 does look like a great platform for gaming, though...but it remains to be seen how 'deep' and expandable FS for X360 would be; and expandability is what makes FS great.Best,Martijn

Considering that there were several questions in the survey about consoles...Usage patterns would be important for a console version as well. Determining what can be safely let out because it's not used much anyway for example.

Microsoft are a commercial company & produce FS because they make a profit from doing so. The X Box was developed originally as being very like a PC in terms of coding which meant that there was relatively little cost in develping for both formats at the same time.I am not worried about PC FS as long as it keeps selling at a profitable level. Indeed if an X Box version sells well it may result in extra development resourses being available. As posted above the problem with console games has always been the fixed nature of them which is in stark contrast to the open nature of FS on the PC. Wouldn't it be nice if the console version introduced some new pilots to the PC version who wanted its flexibility & expandability? In conclusion this is interesting but always remember things are rarely as bad as you fear or as good as you hope. It is very easy to read far too much into this sort of thing.

Think of it like this: How many people now buying the PC version would buy an XBox if the next FS is not available on the PC?And would that offset the loss of revenue from not releasing a PC version? Also take into account that when coding for a controlled platform (rather than the mess of different hardware/software configurations out there in the PC world) development cost goes down and testing leadtime drops markedly as well.Because as you say Microsoft is a company and the FS team isn't doing this for charity.

Do you seriously think that a game like FS2004 is ported to XBox?If they are going to release a FS for XBox it will be stripped and much less complicated version.Remember TV resolution is 700x550 (or whatever) not even 800x600.Now we are complaining that with certain panels we can't see much details at 1280*1024, imaging how this will be a 700*500 :-lol :-lolAlso the XBox game controler looks very nice, but I think it misses a few buttons to be able to control complex panels & overheads :-lol:-wave

If MS Flight Simulator is going to be a console-only game, I would like to know ... very very soon! I still haven't upgraded to FS9, in the hope that FS10 for the PC will appear!Microsoft FS Team .... please give us some info :)

I don't think resolution is a problem as this box supportd High Def. The question is just open source. But think of the potential if the 20Gig hard drive can be used to load addons. This could work out to be a much better alternative for all in that we essentially eliminate the current hardware issues. If it is also expandable and can use addon hardware like the yoke, throttles, etc, then it will probably be very good. The big drag will be paying for XBox Live to get onto Vatsim.Mark.

You may want to relook at the specs posted above. x360 (and the original xbox as well, I believe) do support the higher HD resolutions. The biggest problem to me is that a gaming system is not designed to be a development system. This means that the "price of entry" for developing all of the cool little add-ons is going to go way up, and therefore drop off. Right now, if I want to repaint, or write a little program that enhances FS, it's easy enough to pop up the tools to do so right on the same system. It's not so easy for a game box.Simpit

I've read with interest over the past months the speculation that the next version of FS could be released for the X-Box (and likely the PC as well). Not being a console enthusiast would someone please enlighten me how sitting in your livingroom in front of you TV flying a 4 hour flight with a handheld contoller is more "realistic" than with a mouse, keyboard, and joystick? I don't quite see how this is an advance for flight simulation when it would clearly result in lower resolution, less flexibility, inability to tweak config files, etc. If this is just a strategy to capture another segment of users, that's just fine, but if this is a precursor to eventually eliminating the PC version then I'm at a loss.Do any of you really believe that the X-Box could become the preferred platform for flight simulation enthusiasts who enjoy the challenge of large, complex aircraft like the PMDG or Level-D addons?DougDell XPS Gen3 (3.6GHz/800FSB)2GB DDR SDRAM74GB SATA, 10k RPM (C: ) & 120GB SATA (D: )256MB ATI Radeon X800 XT (Catalyst 5.4)Audigy 2 ZS SoundMS Force Feedback 2WindowsXP Pro (SP2)DirectX 9.0c
