Here's a simple way to install this excellent package into P3Dv4 (will not work for other sim versions) using the new add-on.xml method.

As of 04 SEPT 2017:

  1. Download Global AI Ship Traffic V1
  2. Extract it into a temporary folder
  3. Download 200 AI Ships and AI Ship Traffic V2
  4. Extract that into a temporary folder
  5. Move all six folders (Effects, Images, Scenery, Simobjects, Sound, route maps) from the V2 temporary folder INTO the V1 temporary folder.  Over-write all files. I also renamed the V1 folder to V1+2 to indicate the two have been combined
  6. Create a new text file named "add-on.xml" in the main V1+2 folder and add this text then save:
  7.
    <SimBase.Document Type="AddOnXml" version="4,0" id="add-on">
        <AddOn.Name>Global AI Ship Traffic V1+2</AddOn.Name>
        <AddOn.Description>Global AI Shipping by Henrik Nielsen</AddOn.Description>
        <AddOn.Component>
            <Category>SimObjects</Category>
            <Path>SimObjects\Boats</Path>
        </AddOn.Component>
    	<AddOn.Component>
            <Category>SimObjects</Category>
            <Path>SimObjects\Animals</Path>
        </AddOn.Component>
        <AddOn.Component>
            <Category>Scenery</Category>
            <Path>Scenery\World\Scenery</Path>
            <Name>Global AI shipping traffic</Name>
        </AddOn.Component>
        <AddOn.Component>
            <Category>Effects</Category>
            <Path>\Effects</Path>
        </AddOn.Component>
        <AddOn.Component>
            <Category>Sound</Category>
            <Path>Sound</Path>
        </AddOn.Component>
    </SimBase.Document>

    Or you can download my add-on.xml file HERE

  8. Move this V1+2 folder to "My Documents/Prepar3D v4 Add-ons" (or other folder you've set up to contain your P3Dv4 addons)

The next time you start P3Dv4, you should be prompted to activate this addon - click yes.

All set!

Please let me know if you test this and how it works for you!  I've only tested in the Boston/Providence/NY/NJ areas so far, but working fine.

Thanks,

sg

I recently installed this excellent addon. Many thanks to everyone who contributed to it.

My P3D V4 installation shows two problems with wakes.

- Some ships do not show wakes. Is there a fix for this?

- All visible wakes have stripes in it

Thx,

Karl

Hi

Could you please post some screenshots, that would help identifying problem and solution.

Best regards

Henrik

Thank you for answering! I'm constantly looking into this and just now I resolved the first issue: I followed Gridleys instructions and used his add-on.xml. In it is a wrong path:

<AddOn.Component>
        <Category>Effects</Category>
        <Path>\Effects</Path>
    </AddOn.Component>

It must be:

<AddOn.Component>
        <Category>Effects</Category>
        <Path>Effects</Path>
    </AddOn.Component>

Screenshot of the striped wakes follows.

hmnnn... the first one is a pure default wake fx_wake_l - the second one is a nested wake including both elements from a default Wake plus smoke and light effects... I can't give an explanation why it displays like that on your set-up - would be nice to know if anybody else see the same.

Anybody ever do barge traffic on the Mississippi River?  Or other major river for that matter?  Is that even possible?

You will get a nice surprise with both the new update and also another project I have contributed to... :D The traffic is possible - it is cumbersome to do and the default bridges are a problem as they are too low and stop the ships. Therefore it can only be done on selected stretches.

More pictures... the first three from the English Channel, where traffic has been intensified with both big and small ships - more than 200 new ships are included in the pack

I just downloaded the 2 packages V1 and V2 again. There are a total of 286 ship models in 834 liveries, is this correct?

Thx,

Karl

That could be right - didn't count the number of models lately but the number of liveries is right - the new package will add a bit more than 100 new models and then more than 200 liveries.
