also... I don’t currently have FTX Vector installed (because I got tired of the airport elevation issues)... will that matter?

There is installation guide in the pack, but it does not contain yet P3Dv4 - however, there is a couple of explications for P3Dv4 in this thread. 

I use FTX, however, at least for the lower part of the Mississippi, the default is actually not that bad. Any photo scenery should also work, so if you want to give it a try you will get a PM later tonight. For the Mississippi, you don't need to install anything else - all is new.

Hello, no ships showing up in my sim... P3D V4 (4.5)

I'm fairly certain everything is set up correctly, but obviously I must have missed something. I've downloaded the packages of page 1, in sequence, copied the contents to the relevant folders...

C:\Program Files\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4\SimObjects\Boats

C:\Program Files\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4\Effects

C:\Program Files\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4\Effects\texture

C:\Program Files\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4\Scenery\World\scenery (traffic files)

The "ships" traffic slider is set to 5% and nothing shows up around Rotterdam and in the English Channel (On va dire la Manche, plutôt)

 

I'd appreciate some help, the work done by this team is pretty impressive :) Thanks!

I did... One container ship in the entire Channel, and its wake was vertical, "battleship"-style.

Finally got something... Strait of Gibraltar - odd that the port of Marseille stays empty?

With the ship appearing in the strait your installation method is obviously fine; there shouldn't be ships in the port of Marseille but plenty just outside. The observation from the English Channel seems odd... screenshot would help. Which air traffic AI do you use? Remember FS9 compiled AI traffic excludes the FSX compiled traffic.

The AI traffic is the stock P3D V4's... Should I remove the "stock" boats bgl files from the sim's Scenery (C:\Program Files\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4\Scenery\World\scenery)?

There are two, trafficBoats.bgl and Carriers.bgl (?)

Before you move the stock boats file try to increase the traffic setting to 100% and see if a lot of default ships pop up in the channel.

Once everything works right you can remove the trafficboats.bgl as you will have more and better traffic with the AI ship project - and less unrealistic ugly default ships... The ship in the channel with the vertical wake, might come from another add-on so if you can do a screenshot so I can identify it, it would be good.

I couldn't find the vertical wake ship again in the Channel. but I came across this one - looks like a rendering issue, but I cannot identify the ship.

I increased the slider to 100%... no dramatic change. I'll try again withe stock traffic files removed. To the project team... Have to say... VERY nice work.

The ship is Anne Kjersti, which can be found in the folder AI_Diamond_53. It will be corrected in next version, but until the you can correct it easily by opening the sim.cfg found in that folder with e.g. Notepad and insert a missing r in the name of the texture folder
