February 3, 201511 yr Yeah...wind hitting your face at 175mph can do wonders for wrinkles! ..... I'd bet :-)
February 3, 201511 yr WOW, your 66? Hehe, eeer, no ... but I can see how it read that way ... Fr Bill's a fossil, dinosaur material for sure ... I'm more of an aged wine :He He: Cheers, Rob.
February 3, 201511 yr Moderator WOW, your 66? Looking good man. I usually accept Rob's statements as facts but if he's 66, I'm the queen of England ( apologies to our friends across the pond). Vic RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
February 3, 201511 yr Haha ... 50 ... picture is from when I was 44 or was it 45. I forget ... old age and all. Cheers, Rob.
February 3, 201511 yr Source? And no don't give me the standard rsr sub 300$ quote cause as he stated himself he said that the fsx version would be in the sub 200$ and we all know it doesn't cost anything near that. Don't spread rumors, too much drama will happen no rumor, already mentioned a few weeks ago. PRICING: ======= Lockheed Martin's Prepar3D simulation platform is an enterprise platform with a range of licensing options. PMDG's product lines will likewise offer a range of options but will generally be more expensive than products released on purely entertainment simulation platforms such as Microsoft Simulator. Upon completion of approval/licensing from our licensing partners, PMDG anticipates offering licenses in the following categories: Individual User Non-Professional/Non-Training Professional User* Corporate/Training Center* Initially PMDG will offer only the Individual User Non-Professional/Non-Training license on P3D. It is anticipated this license will fall in the sub $200 range. This license tier will not require an annual support contract.
February 4, 201511 yr My question is that once PMDG port over the 777 there will be quite a few people who will be in the position to move over to P3D V2.5 (hopefully out of beta), will you be able to have better performance (fps) at the same visual settings that you had in FSX as obviously the better eye candy comes at a cost and will the OOM be a bigger problem than FSX? I for one am definitely thinking of making the switch and 2.5/PMDG seem to be the perfect opportunity. Hamish.

Wait just one dang minute Rob - if Fr. Bill is a dinosaur at 66 - what does that make me at 78???? Now you've got me worried that if I stand still too long someone will start piling dirt on me. 50? Hah! I have shoes older than you! Vic RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
February 4, 201511 yr what does that make me at 78???? Since Fr. Bill is Jurassic, that would put you in the Triassic group ... sorry Vic. Well 78 ... dang, and such a good pilot too ... it's inspiring! Cheers, Rob.

Looks like FSX is in its absolut last capitel . Michael Moe Michael Moe
February 4, 201511 yr I use all three sims (FSX, P3Dv2, XPX, and even DCS which I haven't count here since it is a combat simulator) regularly. Every simulator has its strengths. I use FSX because I have so many addons for it, and unless the P3D installer comes out for free, I am not rebuying the software for P3D. And I still like FSX, because it gives me a quite nice and stable performance with nice visuals (DX10). I like P3D v2 for it's improved visuals and mainly for GA flying, because the ORX products, combined with P3D's HDR, cloud shadowing, etc. looks really nice. I seldomly buy new addons for this sim though. And I really love XPX, because, IN MY OPINION, it's the most modern sim with the best visuals and flight dynamics, there is so much extremly good freeware available, and it's the sim I buy the most addons for right now! But all these sims can be installed and used on one machine without any hurt. As long as money isn't the main concern, it's not a bad idea to have them all! ;-) Good times to be a flight sim freak right now!
February 4, 201511 yr I would consider myself to be neutral on this subject as I have FSX, Prepar3D v2.4 and FSX-SE. I have just performed a system format and re-install so at the moment I don't have P3D installed at the moment because I can't see any point in installing it until v2.5 is released because that would entail re-installing again. I haven't installed standard edition of FSX either just the Steam edition, so when it's updated I will have Prepar3D v2.5 and FSX-SE on my system. I like to keep FSX so that I can use it for my UK photo scenery and also to "piggy back" aircraft & scenery into P3D, but at the moment I'm using the photo scenery and Orbx Global and Vector in FSX-SE. I've found the Steam Edition of FSX to be a revelation, I don't know what they've done to it, but it's great. On my old system (i7 920, GTX580 & 12Gb RAM) I'm running it with all the sliders to the right, with the exception of Traffic, which is set at 20%. For sky textures I'm using REX direct & Soft Clouds (I've bought Soft Clouds but I'm not sure what I got for my money!). In rural France, as an example using the default Maul on unlimited I can see the FPS fluctuating between 75 and 160 which I find incredible, and that's with no tweaks! If you can get FSX-SE when it's on one of their special offers (it only cost me £6 or so) then it's well worth having. Good luck with whatever you decide, Ian

" It is anticipated this license will fall in the sub $200 range." Sub as in below 200$ Same story as with the 300$ range and the 200$ range for the FSX release.. Nothing is set in stone dont expect it to cost 200$ He might as well have said: It is anticipated this license will fall in the hypo 1$ range
