performance issues with DSR

Featured Replies

Hey everyone, I have been doing a lot of tweaking and experimenting with DSR in Prepar3d the last few days and I am finding it very stuttery and plain impossible with lots of weather. This is disappointing because it looks WAY better than the normal p3d settings.

I an not using NI just Nvidia Control Panel and p3d settings. I feel I shouldn't be seeing poor results with my system:

i7 4790k OC 4.4GHZ

Gtx 770 2gb

SAMSUNG 40"led TV in PC mode

Anyone else having similar issues or know some tricks?

i use DSR 4x + MSAA 2x + FXAA on, without problems.

i7 3770K no OC

GTX STRIX 980

Are you using MSAA 2x in Nvidia control panel?

What are your other AA settings? vsync? frame limit?

Yes, I would like to know aswell. Running DSR 4x with any kind of severe weather just bogs the system down. Much like high SGSS settings. And the only way on my system in getting rid of shimmer and jaggies without SGSS is DSR 4x. Kind of no win situation.

I can't even run 2.0 DSR without some slight stutters which is just ridiculous on this system...

You shouldn't  I use DSR 2.0/33 for all my sims...every one of them...and I get great frame rates throughout all, and you out-rank me on my GTX 680 2GB.  No problems when the sky is loaded up with two or three sets of clouds...in any sim...

Check out my profile to see what my system has...as a base guide to yours...  Mine is a few years old..but chugs it out just fine.

I'm curious as to what settings you all use for inside Prepar3d and inside Nvidia control panel. My FPS are good, but stuttering is obvious.

MSAA 2x in P3D, FXAA on in P3D, AF 16x, Vsync off, FPS to 30.

Nvidia panel to default (only dsr 4x in global), no NI.

Cloud density to max, cloud distance in ASN 80 nm, shadow quality to max, clouds shadow 80 nm, terrain shadow 0, objects shadow 6 nm, cast and receive all on.

Scenery all to max, except autogen building to dense.

Clouds of REX 4 1024 high level, 512 dx5 low level.

...basically what  Pin typed....

Thanks guys will give it another try. Are you guys using this in FSX as well, I have noticed the outside of the PMDG NGX looks great with DSR. but the cockpit has blurrier writing. Is this normal and just a trade-off, or are there settings to fix this?

or are there settings to fix this?

Brett try reducing the 'Smoothing' settings in DSR under nVidia's Control Panel.
