May 31, 200521 yr Hey Guys,I have been flying in Flight Sim for a lot of years now, but suddenly I have lost the urge to fly and have gotten bored of the sim. So I really need some tips on how to get back in it, perhaps suggest some aircraft, flightplans, sceneries etc; I can use to get back into it.Regards, Paul
May 31, 200521 yr Try something different. Do you fly mostly GA or commercial aircraft? Free addons like FS Economy can add a lot of life back into the sim (at least for me). www.fseconomy.com if you haven't already checked it out. The forums are right here at Avsim. ------------------------- Craig from KBUF
May 31, 200521 yr Check out FSGenesis' offering for Hawaii. Landclass, mesh, add the freeware airport sceneries available here in the library, and you can enjoy beautiful scenery while flying anything from a small cessna to a jet! Personally I enjoy the pmdg 1900c for those cargo runs when it gets a little boring watching the autopilot do all the work in the heavies. It is still fun sometimes to fly a jumbo all by hand though.Maybe you just need to take a break? That happens to me sometimes.
May 31, 200521 yr Try VATSIM or IVAO. I've found that flying with other human beings really brings a new dimension to the sim. It's (a) less predictable (because there are real people involved)(:( more demanding (because suddenly all those rules have a purpose and you want to observe them)© more challenging (because some of the people you fly with will be more advanced than you)This last part can be hard on the ego. I say ditch the ego and seek out people you can learn from.
May 31, 200521 yr Kind of the same thing that happened to me a while ago. Then I started to come up with some ideas to fly. Right now I love flying over the Amazon forest on a 727 using INS navigation :) I also use some new rainforest textures and the specific area's terrain mesh (Brazil in this case). May sound a bit crazy but works for me. It took me some time to understand and program the INS system, but I enjoyed learning something new. Also since last week I decided to learn how to fly helicopters... Oh boy! Fs became a whole different virtual world for me at least. I had never touched helicopters on the sim before. Almost everything about helos is different from fixed wings, I've been spending a lot of time (and enjoying!) learning how to land, hover, etc with these beasts! oh.. sometime I also do some Bush Flying. All these things I had never done before on FS. I used to fly big company routes all the time with Airbuses or 737's. Haven't done this in a while! Just try to come up with something you haven't tried yet. It might work!my 2 cents,Leo
May 31, 200521 yr Freeware and payware addons is what has kept FS always loaded and ready to go on my computer. Although like you, I run out of ideas and things to do. It is sort of imagination block. Like it was stated before, just leave it for awhile. There is nothing wrong with doing something else besides FS. It makes it all the more enjoyable when you do return. I have left FS for many reasons, but I never uninstalled it. I always seem to come back... :DKev
May 31, 200521 yr Talking of Helicopters, go and visit these guys. http://www.dodosim.com/index.htmlIf you want to fly a Bell 206 "As real as it gets" Now's your chance! I havent been flying mech else since I got it a week or so ago! Great stuffCheersTim
May 31, 200521 yr Do what Allcot says. I got bored with the whole lot of it and spent probably the last month and a half not flying at all and barely turning on the computer. It was a nice break coupled with the fact my real world life got very busy. I am now just starting to get back into to it but nothing like it was before...yet. Eric
May 31, 200521 yr Hi Paul,I agree with the people who suggest you might take a break for a while., a change is as good as a rest. Also if you are not technically minded like me,(probably does not apply to yourself), then you might take a longer rest! My next goal is to scrimp and save for a big 26" monitor, because i am always amazed with the visuals that are being produced these days.Off to listen to the birds sing now.CheersDan
May 31, 200521 yr For me Misty Fjords did it. It changed my sim habits completely. Now I have a lot of fun just flying around in a beautiful scenery that changes every day. Herrie
May 31, 200521 yr hey its only natural, it happens to me too, infact ive just got back into it after 4 mths in the wilderness, it comes and goes! I7-10700F RTX 3070 32 Gig Ram
June 1, 200521 yr Take a break. Then as Big AL said, take a jumbo for a parking spot to parking spot flight by hand. You will be busy. I just did one forCYWG - CYYC. It was busy and rewarding. Wait till RCV4 comes out.JimCywg
June 1, 200521 yr Paul, if you are into big jets, when a friend or relationtakes a real flight, do the same flight with Real Weather& see whether you can touch down the same time. You can verify thisby checking the arrival times on the net. This is a slower time for long-time simmers, waiting for the nextFS release.Peter Sydney Australia
