March 22, 201511 yr Where is the bottleneck? I forgot to mention that Prepar3d was running with GPU at 40-60% load and no core on CPU at 100% So why isn't it loading the scenery properly in time? Haze. Sweden. Hotas Warthog. MFG Crosswind. MSFS. DCS. IL-2 Sturmovik: Great Battles.
March 22, 201511 yr It's extremely rare for anyone running P3d with a high end GPU and CPU not have Core 0 more or less pegged at 100% (assuming no fiddling with AM). That's just the nature of how P3d is coded. It is possible to do so by selecting some odd combination of settings that extremely tax the GPU and lightly load the CPU, but that would be pretty out of the ordinary for most users. You have pretty much ruled out most of the common causes of poor performance, so the only hardware-related one that is left is your disk subsystem. It is extremely unusual for hard drives to affect anything in P3d except the initial loading time of a flight situation, so I doubt that's the problem either. Did you check the task manager to see what else is running while P3d is running?
March 22, 201511 yr Did some testing now with HT off and got what I think is normal CPU usage. Full power on core 0, 2 and 3. Instead of that strange 60-70% on all 8 cores with HT on. Just using a 1Tb SSD and no HD. No other processes with any significant CPU load active (only 1%). GPU 50-60%. Trashed Prepar3d.cfg and shader files. No change at all with anything  Trees and autogen are on the suburbs of Stockholm loading at a speed of 400 kt, in city center 300 kt. So if fly at a speed of 350 kt from ESSA to Stockholm I have a empty and blurry world in front of me by the time I get to city center. (only a few custom buildings) Thank you Jay for trying to help! and sorry Jose that I kind of hijacked your tread! Haze. Sweden. Hotas Warthog. MFG Crosswind. MSFS. DCS. March 23, 201511 yr Gentlemen I got referenced a lot in this thread and I was away all weekend! I am sorry for not touching base. Its 930EST on Monday and I just went through it! I think this is normal behavior, as only people with payware add-ons have improved "scenery" addons that surpass the default by a large margin as seen in George's video The LOD radius is the LOD radius, shouldn't matter the scenery. If you see a blurry perimeter its just the P3D limit with a combination of hardware. I see you have HT on. In my video I don't have it active. I find HT off eliminates my blurries for me. Maybe do some tests with HT off. Try George's settings first. I am going to suggest again to the Moderators that his post be made a sticky in the P3d General forum as it would save new users a lot of time and trouble. Thank you sir! Will be making a next one on VAS stress testing. George Kyriazis | www.georgekonline.com
