OK... Flight scenary Flightzone01- RI is better than I thought.

I knew The Flight Scenary Flightzone01 Rhode Island was very good. but felt it was priced too high.... so I didn't get it.Well..today in a momentary lapse of reason..I got it. and I am glad I did. It is something that I have not seen before. The scenary from far is..ok..nothing to rave about.... .but as you approach and you fly around the airport...its just spectacular. I now have three monitors in the front giving me a 180 degree view and imagine this much detail in all three monitors... that made it even better.http://www.flightscenery.com/

I personally think this product is perhaps a little overated. It does not look like VFR photoscenery to me at all. However, for landclass and nighttime effects as well as landing immersion it does a great job.And it has zero framerate impact!. That is a major heads-up these days what with all our add-ons etc...HFDDan

One downside to this scenery is that the developer is slow to communicate, and when he does, he makes commitments he can't and doesn't keep. The scenery is very good but has minor issues that have existed for 2 months. Flightscenery promises an update, but instead of fixing the "minor" issues in PVD quickly, the developer chose to release another package (Paris) and put off the update for PVD blaming the new project for taking up all his time. In my opinion, especially when receiving a premium price as he did for Providence, a developer should fix minor issues with existing products before releasing new ones. If the fixes to Providence are minor (and I believe they are), then why has nothing been fixed in 2 months?

>One downside to this scenery is that the developer is slow to>communicate, and when he does, he makes commitments he can't>and doesn't keep. Hhhhmmm., interesting. In my first post i was being typically overpolite. What i mean't to express is that for the price and publicity this product had attracted (including this site), this product, is IMHO, an overated piece of $%@*.,CheersDan :-)

>It does not look like VFR photoscenery to me at all.And that's good. Real photo-sceneries poorly blend with the default scenery. Many here (including myself) don't like real photosceneries because the way they poorly blend with the rest of the FS scenery. Matter of taste.Michael J.

The best building/downtown scenary is Aerosoft's Manhatten. Its buldings and photo scenary...the best.I just flew from Providence, RI (KPVD) to New York (KLGA) and back on the Flight1 ATR-500 (My fav aircraft). each way took me around 20min. not bad. Approaching La Guradia on runway 4 (I think) and Manhatten skyline on my Left front window. ...simply mavelous.RI is very very good as airports go.. the best I have seen so far.. far better than flyTampa (and thats something). But trees and forests seem to be real hard I suspect.. I have not seen anyone do good in that department.

I bought the Rhode Island scenery the day it was released and think it's nowhere near as good as people (I suspect to a large degree beta testers for the developer) make it out to be. Furthermore, if you then take your grievances to the developer's board or support system, more often than not you get a snotty reply or your post gets deleted.ricardo

I personally think based on the detail vs performance vs the way it was designed that the whole world should be done by these guys! I hate the way mega sceneries look in the city, with flat BMPs of everything, more 2d than 3D. While I have a few glitchs , they are not enough to keep me from enjoying it, although I do agree on the support issues."Furthermore, if you then take your grievances to the developer's board or support system, more often than not you get a snotty reply or your post gets deleted."I fully support voiceing your opinions on a payware product, but there is no need to be rude and snotty (see first quote :-roll ). I'd delete those kinds of posts also. Now when they do this to legit posts, then that is a problem, had that happen to me before, which is why I don't use their freeware aircraft (no names)Regards, MichaelKDFWhttp://www.calvirair.com/mcpics/mcdcvabanner.jpgCalVirAir International

wow, I have the KPVD, I am NOT a beta tester for them and I think it's great, I too hate photo scenery, it's too blurry for me and as stated before it never blends well with the default scenery.I think these guys should do all the major airports in the US and let the fps hogs like simflyers and aerosoft do the small ones....

>trees and forests seem to be real hard I suspect.. I have not>seen anyone do good in that department.>Agreed. I am waiting for some significant revolution in the tree department. We need 10 times the current density of trees. Probably best would be done with some single polygonal object rather than relying on individual trees.Michael J.WinXP-Home SP2,AMD64 3500+,Abit AV8,Radeon X800Pro,36GB Raptor,1GB PC3200,Audigy 2http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/747400.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_beta_member.jpg

>I fully support voiceing your opinions on a payware product,>but there is no need to be rude and snotty (see first quote>:-roll ). I'd delete those kinds of posts also. Why am i being rude and snotty?I except there is some nice scenery in this product and some good airports, and it is good on frame rates. But it annoys me that this product is advertised as photoreal. I have lots of photoreal sceneries on my harddrive, so i know what photoreal looks like. And whether one likes photoreal scenery or not is totally irrelevant.CheersDan

I live right next to PVD...3000 feet form the main runway i can assure you, it is AS accurate as it could ever be. Also the fact of it being photoreal....well i can pick out all the places i visited as a child, my highschool even my house is photoreal. i can see my POOL! i can see the beach i went too...i can pick out my elementry school, all the stores i went to..even the place i mountain bike....i see all the highways, 95, RT4, Post Road, 295, 195...the update is taking so long because i keep bugging the developer with things that i find personally wrong...since i live there.

I don't know about you all, but if I'm going to pay 40+ dollars for a small section of the US and have to wait months for a service pack, I'd be a little upset. I haven't purcahsed this scenery yet but it looks like I'll hold off until the patch is released. Can someone tell me how the scenery looks when flying over the cities? Is the autogen completely gone like in megascenery?

Actually, the autogen is very good, and is carefully aligned, unlike Megascenery.

>Actually, the autogen is very good, and is carefully aligned,>unlike Megascenery. The difference there is Size. The size of Megascenary is vast. I am sure they can hand place all the autogen too...but it would probably cost 100 times RI.These are two different products IMO. They compliment each other... Megascenary/Megacity is generally good at 4000 feet and higher and Flightscenary is good at 4000 feet and below.
