Bouncing taxi in P3Dv2.5

Featured Replies

WebMaximus, glad you brought this up, as when I too experienced this in P3D v2.5, I thought it must have been something that I was doing.

Thought I would give it a go so I followed this instruction but unfortunately it ended in the below error message...

ADE165%20compilation%20error.JPG

...and checking the Event Log reveals this:

Faulting application name: bglcomp.exe, version: 10.0.61472.0, time stamp: 0x475e1730
Faulting module name: bglcomp.exe, version: 10.0.61472.0, time stamp: 0x475e1730
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x00024b35
Faulting process id: 0xc98
Faulting application start time: 0x01d083b957d60036
Faulting application path: D:\Install\FlightSim\FSX\Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK\SDK\Environment Kit\BGL Compiler SDK\bglcomp.exe

Report Id: 9584e4b7-efac-11e4-bc7d-74d02b813457

Steps I did was to

  1. download and install ADE v01.66.5555
  2. open P:\Program Files (x86)\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v2\aerosoft\Arlanda X\Scenery\AFX_ESSA.bgl
  3. go to Lists-Taxi Links
  4. press Reset All Draw Flags, Yes, Close, Compile, Compile

Did those Steps resolve the bouncing issue, then, WebMaximus?

Did those Steps resolve the bouncing issue, then, WebMaximus?

Since the compilation ended in an error nothing was changed and hence nothing changed to the bouncing issue.

It looks like you have set up ADEX correctly to point to the location of your bglcomp executable, I assume that is the correct location.

Scruffy Duck has an active forum here http://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/forums/airport-design-editor.95/

Try compiling a file that you have not changed to see if your setup is okay.  I can assure you that once set up ADEX works very well.

Thanks, already found the forum but not sure how much time I'm willing to invest into this. I always tend to get caught up doing other stuff instead of actually flying...anyone else recognize that feeling ?

I think so, how about learning a new programming language C# to create a logbook editor application for P3D because of the brain dead native logbook feature.  I think that's other stuff.

Found out the reason for the compilation error was I didn't use the latest P3D SDK compiler.

I've now checked out the scenery again and pointing at one of the taxiways they are flagged to use either asphalt or concrete as surface and according to the answers I got over at FSDeveloper's forum the reason for a bumpy taxi ride would be the taxiways are not marked with the correct surface type such as gravel for example.

As for the Draw Flags these have apparently nothing to do with a bumpy ride but only visual appearance so now I'm back at square one thinking about what the actual culprit is for the bumpy taxi ride.

Will do some more testing such as using one of the default aircraft in P3D to see if I will get the same effect as I do in the NGX.

When I look at the acft exterior on the Realair Duke while taxiing with any speed on Aerosoft's ESSA, I see dirt and rocks getting kicked up...the bouncing and this effect is almost certainly due to P3D interpreting the scenery bgls as a dirt or gravel surface where in FSX it's not.  Changing the surface type in the ADE file does not help.  I suspect there's an issue in one of the other scenery bgls.

Do you have the bouncing effect in other sceneries? I only have this at Aerosoft ESSA.

Haven't installed that many of my add-on airports in P3D yet so not sure but I do think this is related to Aerosoft ESSA rather than a general problem with P3D or the NGX.

Uh-huh. I've just had in in the PMDG 777-300 at LatinVFR's SGBR(Sao Paulo). Parked at a stand. Everytime I switched to external Locked Spot View, there it was, doing a bounce.

That's a different issue from the one we're discussing here and I believe what you describe is the issue mentioned in the NGX documentation.
