Accuracy of the FSX Default CRJ-700 Flight Model

Featured Replies

I would apprecaite hearing inputs on the accuracy of the default CRJ-700 flight model, especially from any FSXers who happen to have real world CRJ-700 expereince.

Is the handling realistic, and if not, what seems to be the major areas of discrepency?  I know there is a POSky CRJ-700, and a Wilco CRJ-700, but just don't have the RW expereince to evaluate the flight accuracy of any of these a/c. For me, aircraft "realism", such a provided by PMDG, A2A, and others, is an important part of the flight sim experience.

Thx,

Al

Well, considering that you can do a barrel roll and a back flip with it fully loaded, I would assume that it's not very realistic

You will probably need this once it's released, shouldn't be too long now.

I don't have RW experience, but judging from the difference between the default Boeing 737-800 and the PMDG 737-800, the default CRJ wouldn't be highly realistic. I agree with Glynn: Digital Aviation / Aerosoft have a CRJ model in beta testing that looks very promising, that will likely be the best option. I would not recommend the Wilco CRJ, which only provides a rather modest improvement over the default CRJ.

The default CRJ is simplified regarding the flight model.

If you want an improvement, you could try a merge of the POSKY exterior model with the default's virtual cockpit.

One release to get you stated is this one on Flightsim.com: hop_posky_crj702.zip

Thanks guys for the ideas.

Sure wish the Aerosoft CRJ would finally get released. Seems like it's taking more time than it took to produce the real plane!  :)   Bjoern, I will certainly give that POSky from Flightsim.com a try in the meantime.

Is the POSky CRJ-700 flight model generally considered to be a significant improvement over the default CRJ-700?  I'm not familiar with Project Open Sky or the folks who were involved with it, but since the POSky CRJ-700 is freeware, I assume the motivation was to improve on the default model.

Thx,

Al

as far as i know they mostly, if not only, deal with the external model. Pretty sure they do not change the flight model
