AVSIM will look like a haven of fluffiness, happy thoughts and group hugs in comparison. The tragedy of that newsgroup is that it USED to be a relatively sane and pleasant place to discuss all sorts of FS topics, until was singlehandedly destroyed over the past couple of years - primarily by one specific individual with many serious "issues" (to put it mildly). All too common on Usenet due to the inherent lack of any way to moderate, but AGMSFS was pretty much an exception for many years. Of course, since it is totally un-moderated, it is a true reflection of the Wicked Wild West where only the strong survive. I spent several years following that and similar newsgroups before finally dropping them like a proverbial hot rock... ...well, that and the fact that my provider wanted to start charging monthly for access to the newsgroup feed.
