May 18, 201610 yr If you ever get lost in Germany by coincidence or deliberately, I pay you a ticket for the Hermeskeil Flugausstellung (aviation museum) and spend a coffee or two in its walkable Concorde model. I have no idea where my logbook has gone It's a historical source, maybe the museum would find it interesting, if it contains some information on G-ARVF? Best regards, Christian Kelter

Was stationed in Germany too, and also visited Soviet-occupied Berlin and free Berlin too, but never heard of that museum. As regards the logbook, it is not a flyer's logbook. It was a book where all our jobs were stamped by the Section Supvr followed by Insp Supvr. Rick Almeida
May 18, 201610 yr You're welcome. Found out, that BA presented to Sheikh Said a VC10 set up with the VIP interieur for the Queen's voyages and then he chose to buy one that had been phased out by BA in 1974 with that deluxe cabin arrangement. In 1975, with his new plane, he flew in to Abu Dhabi a famous German falconer from Hamburg to cure his white falcons from a fatal feather disease. Another funny story I retrieved from a popular German magazine (Der Spiegel) from Feb 1965 is that BOAC officials denied their upcoming VC10 to be fitted with passenger amusement such as films and games - something Pan Am and TWA were introducing to their transatlantic planes. The British said that would just distract from and spoil (I retranslate into English, I don't have the original phrase) "the exceptional new flight sensation" of the yet to be intruduced Vickers. May 18, 201610 yr Found out, that BA presented to Sheikh Said a VC10 Like I made an allegorical remark earlier,--forgive the pun, re: desert emirate---'oiling the deal', i.e. Concorde flightpaths, refuelling stops, etc Rick Almeida
May 22, 201610 yr Speaking of VF, are there plans to also upgrade the Standards? Best regards, Christian Kelter
May 22, 201610 yr Author Speaking of VF, are there plans to also upgrade the Standards? Well, the Standards will have to have new thrust curves, new temperatures, new engine limitations and a couple of other things. So there's a bit of work there. And also 5N-ABD didn't have a radio altimeter. But in general it will be a lot quicker to update the Standards seeing as the major work has been done and fully tested on the Super. I'm going to do a take-off abort call as well for when the engine thrust is a bit off. It's a pretty rare event for the engines not to get to the correct P7 on take-off but it can happen with a specific temperature and/or altitude combination. So that will be included. What you would do is taxi back to the stand, wait for the engines to cool sufficiently and if in the mean time the weather has changed i.e. change in pressure or temperature then a restart and hopefully you're a goer. It'll be pretty rare as it was in real life. The C1k's are also in line for a face-lift but require considerably more work than the Stadards. They had a rudimentary FMC with 4 lines. I'm trying to "acquire" a manuel to help out on that. Super VC10 into LOWI with PF3 at a cinema near you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=298UDyNmgUA

The Supers are first in the line. I'm going to do a take-off abort call as well for when the engine thrust is a bit off. I recently followed your research in the vc10.net It's great so see that also veterans indirectly partake in the creation process . Best regards, Christian Kelter
May 22, 201610 yr Author Yeah, thought so. The Supers are first in the line. I'm very impressed with your dedication to detail and proceedings! I recently followed your research in the vc10.net It's great so see that also veterans indirectly partake in the creation process . Even though I am a pilot and involved in crew training etc. one needs to be as accurate as possible when creating a model. And where my experience falls short others can assist. Also from the modelling point of view. So the gurus in fsdevelopers have often pointed me in the right direction. I would say the the most difficult job has been working out the polynomial curves for the P7 dials which has to be accurate for every possible elevation, temperature and pressure. And when doing the manuel I have to go back and test things to see that they actually do work as written on the tin. When all is ready the download in avsim will have to be in two or three parts as a single upload exceeds the 500mb limit by a long way! May 23, 201610 yr vololiberista Hats off to you for undertaking such a Herculean(no pun intended from an ex-RAF VC-10er!)task. Very much looking forward to the end product. Rick Almeida

Thanks for that though judge me when I release :-) In the mean time read and inwardly digest any manuels for the 10 that you have!! You might just find that useful lol. May 23, 201610 yr manuels for the 10 that you have I have full set of the Engineering Manuals each volume being so thick and so heavy. Not even glanced at them in the last 20 years! LoL! Rick Almeida
May 24, 201610 yr Author I have full set of the Engineering Manuals each volume being so thick and so heavy. Not even glanced at them in the last 20 years! LoL! The only things outstanding are the full electrical and hydraulics panels. So they will be "attacked" after this release because as you know the split system has to be modelled which makes this a tad complex. Otherwise everything else is per the manuel. So might I suggest that you shake out the manuel worms and start reading lol. As for my user manual it is on finals. May 24, 201610 yr Will the release contain the the famous periscope to check gear bay and tailplane for gremlins? LOL :h0115: Best regards, Christian Kelter
