LUA dynamic frictions!

So it was PMDG that made it move at 24% then? I'm sure its all for a reason then

Vernon,

I've tried the LUA friction patch and I can tell you that for the PMDG I don't use it. For the NGX, anyway, it's seems much more realistic to me without the LUA friction fix in place. With the fix in place the NGX rolls much, much to easily.

Hi dave i was going to mention that about the NGX rolls off quite fast. It builds up speed pretty quick compared to having the mod off

You could experiment with increasing the below 30Kts values in the DynamicFriction.lua

Open with Notepad and find these lines:

if slow

      then

        ipc.SetFriction(WHEEL,    CONCRETE,        ROLLING,    DRY,    0.025)

        ipc.SetFriction(WHEEL,    ASPHALT,        ROLLING,    DRY,    0.030)

        ipc.SetFriction(WHEEL,    BITUMINUS,        ROLLING,    DRY,    0.030)

        ipc.SetFriction(WHEEL,    MACADAM,        ROLLING,    DRY,    0.030)

        ipc.SetFriction(WHEEL,    TARMAC,            ROLLING,    DRY,    0.030)

Try say, 0.070/0.075/0.075/0.075/0.075 and see what happens.

WOW thankyou thats alot better :) speed doesn't build up as quick!

That was just a guess and I had not actually tried it.

I just did try it now and it made no difference for me LOL.

Musta done something wrong...

It certainly doesn't speed up as much now.

Maybe try deleting the lines which SetFriction for "ROLLING"

I removed all mods and my acft takes some power to get it moving now. But i find it quickly decelerates more without the mod. Is this correct?

Venom,

Please try and get things in order. FSX has too much friction so you need excessive thrust to get things moving. PMDG compensated for this in their simulation resulting in more realistic taxi operation. Maybe the breakaway thrust is too low but it's a compromise with the amount of thrust needed to keep rolling.

Try and keep with the bigger picture.

I deleted all Mods. And now i need more thrust to get her moving and then small blips of power to keep it going or the plane will slow down. Is this correct in way the PMDG done it?

Logically it must be, don't you think? The friction mods are designed to reduce FSX friction to more real world levels. So deleting the mod will increase breakaway thrust and mean you need to apply more thrust to maintain taxi speed. Which is what you described.

So now you've seen the effect of the mod, it's really up to you to decide whether you prefer the NGX with or without it. Do you want to have to keep applying bursts of power on long taxis or are you more concerned with how much thrust you need to get moving. Of course with the dynamic Lua version you can tweak friction values to your hearts content.

I see both worlds now! I deleted the lines which SetFriction for "ROLLING" and now i have the mod but without the set friction for rolling.

Not sure if in the real world the NG glides when taxiing or do you need to keep applying thrust?

I read that Lua Dinamicfriction patch is working only when full registered FSUIPC is present, is it true ?

Yes that's true. With unregistered FSUIPC you can still use the friction patch. You just can't customise it.

Hello,

Small question regarding the LUA dynamicfriction with fsuipc.

I like using it for the PMDG NGX and T7 but with the iFly 747, the taxi with light fuel after landing is unpractical with it as it implies using the brakes almost permanently.

So I would like to activate it only for some aircrafts but not for others.

Is it working if I add it in the aircrafts sections with an [AUTO.XXXX] instead of [AUTO] for all the aircrafts?

And if I do that, do I need to add also the [LUAFiles] section in each aircraft section or can I leave it at the end of the INI?

Thanks.
