September 25, 201510 yr I'm the same boat as Tony, I have a laptop too because I have to travel a lot ... It's pretty decent but I'm kinda limited with controls. Ever tried landing a plane with a mouse? It sucks just as much as trying to sign my name with one So yeah the realism is already kinda gone there but at least I can turn up the scenery to the insane levels as a consolation gift. -Rob I bought myself a xbox-controler and use it to fly when I am travelling. Not exactly a homecockpit but much better then using the mouse. September 25, 201510 yr Moderator I never thought of using an xbox-controller, that's a good idea :-). I have a Saitek X52, rudders and TrackIR, but obviously they aren't too portable. So at home, I have a fairly good setup. I just wish Apple had given me more than 2 USB ports, since I also have all my scenery on an external drive. Funnily enough, I actually find helicopters quite easy to fly using the trackpad. Not at all realistic, but it allows me to fly around and explore.
September 25, 201510 yr It would be great if Austin developed a mouse-based interface for X-Plane 10 with the functionality we have in MS FLIGHT, where we can still control the rudder with key presses ( self-centering when key released )... When I was using MS FLIGHT, that was my preferred input method. I also use the mouse to control my glider in CondorSoaring in the laptop. Actually, from a RL experience PoV, I find it closer to reality :-) Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)
September 25, 201510 yr The ironic thing is that flying X-Plane prop aircrafts with the mouse is actually better, in that the left rolling tendency basically disappears due to not having a centered return. LOL! "Society has become so fake that the truth actually bothers people".

LOL! Very true, and also the reason why I prefer to use the mouse to fly CondorSoaring... The gliders I fly IRL are really very light with the stick, and my joystick usually to stiff for a glider ( or helicopter )... I'm still trying to play around with a few datarefs. I've reached what I consider very acceptable results regarding the fine tuning of prop effects :-) Also looking fwd for your tests ;-) Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)
