NGX app crash on closing fsx

Featured Replies

Hi guy's, just wondering if anybody can help me solve this fsx ctd when shutting down fsx, this is the file from the event viewer if anyone can tell what it is, running win10 64bit

fsx.exe       10.0.61637.0       46fadb14       PMDG_737NGX.DLL       1.0.0.0       55119308       c0000005       001ef5c6       e3cc       01d0f58cf6bfc7e8       D:\MY FSX\fsx.exe       D:\MY FSX\GAUGES\PMDG_737NGX.DLL       0ab790cc-6181-11e5-82a3-d8cb8a7f2bcc

Cheers Rod.

End flight first, then exit sim and you probably will not get that crash (at least in my experience) I can't explain why but it works for most people.

In the NGX manual there is a section where they discourage users from loading new liveries on top of a flight where the NGX is already the aircraft.   Basically, you should start FSX with a default aircraft then select the NGX and its livery from the menu once.   After that, don't change an NGX livery or you'll get CTD.  The problem you're having I think is related.

Thanks for the input guy's, but I do and have always ended the flight before exiting the sim and have always had the default trike when starting the sim and then choose the NGX have done for years, considering that this is a brand new win10 rig with a complete new fsx install and all the eye candy addon's for which I've done a few times, I've never had this before, I don't know, it doesn't happen with the PMDG777 so I guess it's  NGX related, it's driving me nuts.

I so have the uianimationcore.dll V1800 in my fsx folder, fresh download of the NGX uninstalled it reinstalled it fresh install of FS2crew reboot, I will try with reboot uninstalled and see if there's an improvment

Google FSX Crash on Exit..., this problem has been around for years with many causes. One of the posts you find might help.

It started happening to me out of the blue then went away. To be honest, a crash on exit did not concern me enought to track it down. What's the point? Any exit that you can walk away from is a perfect exit.

What's the point?

If FSX crashes on exit there is no record of the flight in the Pilot Records>Logbook. At least that is what happens with the T7.

It will log when the engines shut down, I think. Othewise, you can find my LogEdit logbook editor in the AVSIM library and add the flight yourself. Regardless, point taken. I think the google search will help OP find which one of the many causes he is experiencing.

Maybe I should word the issue differently, when finish a flight with the NGX I choose end flight, then to exit the sim I choose the "X" at the top right hand corner, upon doing this the fsx splash screen instantly moves to the bottom right hand corner of the monitor with only half of the splash screen showing and freezes, the only way to shut down fsx is to shut down the computer, on some occasions just clicking on end flight with cause the same issue, noting this only happens with the NGX and nothing else, to me this is bothering.

Cheers Rod.

Try the other uianimation core dll file then, 16-something version.

Also try rebuilding your fsx config file.

Do you have the latest drivers for your video, sound, bios, etc?

If that doesn't work, post the contents of your dll.xml file maybe an unnecessary program is causing the app hang.

to me this is bothering.

The exact same thing happens in the T7. I have submitted this to PMDG support and they tell me nothing can be done about it. There recommendation was to end the flight with a Ctrn + C from full screen or click on the X from Windowed mode. After a while those recommendations stop working. So what I started doing is alternating the methods. One flight I will use Ctrl + C. The next flight I will Alt + Enter to windowed mode and click on the X. That is the way it is and nothing can be done about it except with maybe FSX-SE since may be it can be changed some time in the future. You can make all kinds of changes to your system and it is not going to make one bit of difference. Live with it.

It was happening to me almost every shutdown, then I upgraded my box with a few new components and went from Vista to Win7. Haven't had it happen once since then but my setup is about the same. I am sharing this not to suggest a solution, but if you google this error you'll find it has occurred with FSX for as long as it has been on the market.

From post #10 of this thread - "upon doing this the fsx splash screen instantly moves to the bottom right hand corner of the monitor with only half of the splash screen showing and freezes." Did you have the splash screen appear exactly as described?

No, not at all Michael. I always simply had an error message box from windows and no artifacts.  You are right, that is an odd symptom that I've not seen.
