How to Install My Traffic 6 into P3D

Featured Replies

Dear pilots,

I just purchased MT6 and have been spending the past hour trying to figure out how to install this software, without any success. I evidently read the pdf as well as tons of forums posts.

I installed and opened Mytraffic Communicator

Located MT6. Pressed OK

Located P3D V2?? (I use V3, i never had V1 nor V2, but it automatically correctly found my V3 folder). Pressed OK

Then it tells me I should click on the MANAGED PREPAR3D V2 tab the MANAGE SIMOBJECT.CFG - ONLY 2.5 OR HIGHER

Well, nothing happens when I click that !! No window opens; however on the pdf it says normally a window should open and i should click on save and close..why isn't a window showing up ?

Then I closed it and fired up my %programdata% V3 folder and opened the following notes:

simobjects.cfg in which I added a new entry and the correct installation route: I installed on E drive so

"E\MyTraffic Professional\MyTraffic/Aircraft"

With the " included.  Then i hit save.

I also fired up by scenery.cfg in the same folder and checked for MyTraffic entry and it is correct. There was no multiple \\\\ as i read on some forums.

Then I opened P3D and selected on the menu scenery library, ADD AREA, clicked on MyTraffic folder as explained in the pdf.

Please help,

TNCMdream.

Do NOT install it in the P3D v3 folder. LM recommends that ALL add-ons should be installed OUTSIDE the P3D folder. If you only have a C-drive make a NEW folder and name it like MT6 and install it there or better on a different drive than C. You should also NOT have your P3D in the C:\Program Files (x86)-folder, it´s not recommended by LM/PMDG and other developers. Why? Because Windows have different security functions making it hard for add-ons and other things to access folders inside C:\Program Files (x86).

Hi,

Your entry is wrong, take a look at it: "E\MyTraffic Professional\MyTraffic/Aircraft"

Make sure there is a colon (:) after the drive letter E

Just a quick addition. You should check to see if there's a copy of TrafficDatabaseBuilder.exe in you MyTraffic folder. You need to have the SDK installed to access the file and copy.

Life will MUCH simpler if you install MT6 to a folder or drive OUTSIDE the P3D3 root folder.

I also have mine installed outside, but I tried make the instructions as dummy proof as possible.

Thanks for the guidance , but are you sure that's all there is to it?  I have installed this outside of my P3d folder.

Ok, listen, forget about the communicator. Delete everything, uninstall, and then start over and follow these simple 3 steps. You won't be using the communicator.

First, install My Traffic 6 to any drive you want, Let's suppose you install it into your P3D folder on drive C, so that it is folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v3\MyTraffic

Then

Step 1. Go to C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v3 and locate simobjects.cfg (You might need to click on View>Hidden Items in File Explorer)
Add the following entry to the end of simobjects.cfg and then save. If it is entry 11 instead of 10 for you, then change it to 11. For me the entries go up through 9 so it will be entry 10. If you have the MyTraffic folder located somewhere else then the path will be that different path. Add this to scenery.cfg:

[Entry.10]
Active=True
Path=C:\Program Files (x86)\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v3\MyTraffic\Aircraft
Required=True
Title=MyTraffic Vehicles

Step 2. In your Prepar3d v3 folder, go to Scenery>Global>Scenery and find the file "Trafficaircraft.bgl" and rename it to "Trafficaircraftoff.off" so that the default ai doesn't appear

Step 3. Lastly, start up P3d or use sceneryconfig editor to add the MyTraffic folder into your scenery library just as you would any addon scenery. IN this case the MyTraffic folder is at C:\Program Files (x86)\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v3\MyTraffic

Follow these three steps and you cannot fail. Make sure you have ai traffic settings set up beyond 0 in P3D.

I think your Step 2 is incorrect...it should be> Scenery>World>Scenery ?

So what does one do after Step 3?

Thanks for the guidance , but are you sure that's all there is to it?  I have installed this outside of my P3d folder.

I think your Step 2 is incorrect...it should be> Scenery>World>Scenery ?

So what does one do after Step 3?

I apologize, it is Scenery>World>Scenery

After step 3 the traffic should be visible.

Hey guys, I see there is alot of confusion in how to install My Traffic into P3D v3.  I tried to help but made a small mistake in my explanation, and then saw another place in which someone could be confused.  So let me start over.  I promise, it is not difficult.

First of all, install My Traffic from the exe file.  In this example, we will install it into the main C:\ drive so that it appears as a folder C:\MyTraffic6. ( Please note that the installer installs a main folder called MyTraffic6, then a subfolder MyTraffic.  All of the important files are in the subfolder.  So if you make the mistake of adding the path to the MyTraffic6 main folder, it won't work.  Nor will adding MyTraffic6 to your scenery library.  You MUST SPECIFY THE SUBFOLDER MyTraffic)

There will be three simple steps to follow.  Before we begin however, make sure that AI traffic setting in P3D is set above 0.  Also, if you are using the newest patch to My Traffic 6, copy and past it into your MyTraffic6/MyTraffic folder and run it.  YOU WILL NOT USE THE COMMUNICATOR.

Step 1. Go to C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v3 and locate simobjects.cfg   (You might need to click on View>Hidden Items in File Explorer in order to see the ProgramData hidden folder)

  Add the following entry to the end of simobjects.cfg and then save.  If it is entry 11 instead of 10 for you, then change it to 11.  For me the entries go up through 9 so it will be entry 10.  If you have the MyTraffic folder located somewhere else other than C:\MyTraffic6 then the path will be that different path. Add this to scenery.cfg:

[Entry.10]
Active=True
Path=C:\MyTraffic6\MyTraffic\Aircraft
Required=True
Title=MyTraffic Vehicles

Step 2.  In your main Prepar3d v3 folder, which is usually C:\Program Files (x86)\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v3  go to Scenery>World>Scenery and find the file "Trafficaircraft.bgl"  and rename it to "Trafficaircraftoff.off"  so that the default ai doesn't appear

Step 3.  Lastly, start up P3d or use  sceneryconfig editor to add the MyTraffic folder into your scenery library just as you would any addon scenery.  IN this case the MyTraffic folder is located at C:\MyTraffic6\MyTraffic
Make sure you ADD  THE SUBFOLDER MyTraffic, NOT THE PARENT FOLDER MyTrafffic6  You must add the folder that has Scenery and Textures just below it, just like any other add on scenery.

Now the traffic should appear
Follow these three steps and you cannot fail.  Make sure you have ai traffic settings set up beyond 0 in P3D.
