Hello Phil,

Like the real 737, you have to be sure that your aircraft is fully trimmed before engaging the AP.  You should be able to take your hands off of the yoke and the plane will continue going in the direction and climb angle that you intend for it to go before engaging the autopilot.

If the aircraft is out of trim, it will not engage.

Eventually someone will jump in here and tell you you're required to sign your posts with your real name here. I couldn't care less about that rule... but dear god, quit signing them the way you currently are! :-D

You really shouldn't engage the AP on the ground. I'm willing to bet you're not in trim when trying to engage the AP in the air. You should not have any force on the yoke when trying to engage the AP.

Also tried to go into FMC to see if I needed to adjust settings on a/p , just got confused .

This is why the aircraft comes with an Intro Manual that explains all of the functions. You should definitely have a look at it. For this specific topic, search (CTRL+F) for "engage." You will eventually come across the option REALISTIC AP ENGAGEMENT. The manual will explain further.

I think he was referring to the rule here to sign your posts with your real, full name - first and last.

just downloaded the PMGD 737 series

You might want to try Tutorial 1 before attempting to fly the NGX.

ok

will post correctly from now on

no intention to upset anyone , just want to learn to fly

appreciate the guidance

also will look into tutorial -1

also will look into tutorial -1

Phil

Don't look into Tutorial 1, Fly Tutorial 1 and 2. Look into the Introduction Manual. I believe doing these three things before you try to fly the NGX would help you do the right things when you fly and you would understand why you are doing them. It would become a pleasure to fly the NGX. You would not be confronted every step of the way with something that didn't work. Enjoy your flights

  • 2 weeks later...

I just got the 737 NGX and have flown the tutorial flight 4 times yesterday alone, and probably will fly it a bit more before moving to tutorial 2. That is the only way to really learn how to fly a complex aircraft in my opinion.
