Virtualcol ATR42

Man these are such crap models...the "210's engines arent even realistic. vcol just put -500 engines on the 210 model.. the wings' dihedral angle are too low.. you cant use different soundpacks because that wasnt done correctly either.. Engine RPM not even modeled..even freeware ISDT has a little engine RPM modeled in.. Seriously, seeing Razbam have failed to commit to its ATR project..I dont see what's stopping Majestic from producing an absolute beast of an ATR family for FSX/P3D..

Just get the ISDT model instead..its much better..Hell If you can get the OSP AI model and make it flyable..Even that's better than this complete crap.

I strongly disagree.

Flight1's ATR 72 is the best sim representation I've seen overall. It was ported to FSX, so visuals are a little dated (especially cabin windows) but systems work as well as ever (I use to love playing with the prop brake)! Not DX10 compatible though, and I highly doubt P3D compatible, probably works FSX:SE.

Virtuacol is what it is, cheap and cheerful.

Very unlikely you'll see a Majestic ATR; they've yet to release the Q400 Training Edition and then they're focused on Q300. That's gotta be at least 3 years work.

Razbam have a lot of screenshots of their FSX model's visuals, but not a lot else. Who knows which of those is their development priority (ATR, E-190, EMB-120 plus all the DCS stuff they're developing too)!? I rekon most of their FSX previews are several years away from release. They say the EMB-120 is mostly done but they need someone to do an .air file for it and haven't found anyone yet. Also, I found the systems on the Metroliner a little lacklustre.

The Metro isn't the most complex of airplanes in the first place.

And as far as I know, all of Razbam's WIP turboprops are indefinitely put on hold.

I also disagree! Sure, the VCol ATRs are not for the simmer who wants nothing less than Majestic/PMDG/iFly standards of system depth, but with the latest V2 update, the VCol ATRs are not bad at all and I think it is totally inappropriate and quite unfair to describe them as "compete crap". The external models are pretty accurate; VCol have improved both the appearance and functionality of the VC; the sounds are good and the product is great value for money with a huge variety of colour schemes coming in the package.

I should point out that I fly the Majestic Q400 a lot and there is no doubt that it is THE best turboprop airliner available for FSX today, but there are times when I don't necessarily want to immerse myself in that degree of system complexity but simply 'jump in and fly' and the VCol ATR is great for this while still offering a considerable level of system functionality if you wish to use it.

And it's already on sale at pcaviator...35% off so only about $16 for those considering it.

The Flight1 ATR performs well in FSX !  But you cannot simply install it in FSX. There are some steps to undertake, you can find a description of how to do this on the F1 ATR forum. I am running the ATR on FSX SE without problems, well, only the propellorblades disappear behind clouds, But that is e well known issue with FS9 models flying with FSX

I use the ATR for my flights in the Canary Islands, great fun !!
