FTX Central update question

Featured Replies

Yesterday, after installing version 3.3 I decided to look at FTX central seeing if there was any updates there. The only thing I have installed by Orbx is trees, nothing else. When I opened it it said it had two updates, and the first one said default and there was a list of items, including total upgrade of FSX or P3D, ground textures, auto textures for buildings, and about 12 more items. I hit installed, and to my surprise it started downloading about 1.5 GBs worth of items. The other update was a very small one, I forgot the title, and that went very quickly.

This morning when I started P3D, it said it had to rebuild the scenery data. Does anyone know what this large update was,and is it free scenery for ORBx or what... I brought the same page up again today, and to the right of this Default with the list of things that are supposed to be changed, it says "Appy Group" and a button to do that, and I am afraid to click on the button not knowing what it is going to do.

ORBX libs 160528 perhaps. It has 1.3GB.

That is it. What exactly does this do, since it apparently changed something in my scenery database? Is it a free add on? Looks like it is causing problems for some.

Yes it's free. Go to ORBX web for details. btw. with new ftx central update, you don't need to switch regions anymore.

Yeah, it's in a rough state for quite a few. My Norway region is a complete mess of these kind of tiles.

Is it a fresh install P3D, or updated?

If you install scenery you need to reinstall ftx global i think.

What is the purpose of it???????

Getting rid of the necessity of switching regions.

If one doesn't have one bit of Orbx scenery, why is that download necessary?

if you have ANYTHING of FTX installed, you need Orbxlibs. They contain various routines and fixes for all the products, installed or not. The new update also updated FTX Central to make updating etc easier. It must always be installed last after EVERY update.

OK, I have the trees, so that explains it.

1.3 GB?  I have not upgraded to P3D 3.2 yet let alone P3D 3.3.  ORBX is a source of angst for me.  I don't know what they are up to, but this shenanigan may just push me to not install ORBX again when I finally move up to P3D 3.2. Their stuffs are beautiful, but I don't seem to be able to get good performance, there always seems to have microstutters in my setup.
