Do you have a Nvidia PASCAL card? You need to try this...

Featured Replies

You will see it in Nvidia inspector, but Fast Sync is a Pascal exclusive feature.

Nope, not Pascal exclusive.  At ~7:50 in this video, nVidia's Tom Petersen answers that question, stating that Fast Sync will be broadly implemented across the GPU lines:

That said, I don't see it as generally very useful in flight simulation, as in most cases the program is not overrunning the monitor refresh rate by much, if at all.

This is interesting. I installed the latest NI and see both the 30.4 framerate limiter option and the Vertical Sync FastSync option now for my GTX980. I tried the recommended settings and in an area where I normally got random routine microstutters (side view, TIR, NGX), I now have mostly smooth performance except for a pair of stutters occurring back to back at 8 second internals. If i can track down the cause of those, I might be in LA LA Land yet!

Glad to know! It works very well for me and make P3D a perfect smooth sim!

those who tried it and think they get smoother fps, try with normal vsync (in the nvidia CP) and report any differences.

Also you have a choice to turn it on in the global section and the P3D specific location in NCP - any thoughts on that

Rich Sennett

Its the same thing, enable it wherever you want. again, its pointless and will not effect anything any more than normal vsync thru the nvidia panel.

Tested putting Vsync to On instead of FastSync in NCP and yes, achieved the same smooth and complete stutter free sim. Maybe i think it was smoother because before my post i used always 3D App Controled instead of On. So with Vsync ON in NCP maybe it shows the same result.

I want to edit the fisrt post and title to adapt but i can't. This post can help the users to have a smooth stutters free P3D instead of a high FPS stutter P3D.

So final results are the next:

If you don't have a 30Hz capable monitor, you need to try.

Just discovered a level of smoothness that is incredible in P3D! 100% stutter or micro stutter free...and hope you test it and comment.

- Limit to 30.5 FPS in NI

- Put the VSYNC option to ON in NCP.

- Unlimited FPS, Vsync and TB off in P3D.

No more, only max power in NCP. AM=85 for me.

I have my screen at 60Hz, but i think it can work at upper RR.

one question, are you using gsync?

one question, are you using gsync?

No. I tested many times with different options but don't like it. It gives a very smooth panning, but always introduces stutters, always. It's imposible to get a smooth sim with Gsync for me.

ah ok, just wondering, heard it isnt so good at 30fps.

ah ok, just wondering, heard it isnt so good at 30fps.

Tested with unlimited FPS what is supossed to work good, but even with 60-70FPS with complex scenery and aircraft it introduces stutters. Maybe it causes some miliseconds FPS drops below 30...
