Small business jet for P3D v3?

Featured Replies

At this point I'm more excited about the XP10/11 ddenn Global 6000

I'm not sure if any of these upcoming glass jets will see the light of day. I've seen the ES C560+ previews here and there. It's been a while though.

Hi...

You need to ping Al (ark) in the Flysimware Forum here on AvSim with your email address - he made a fix for the indicator light (replaces the "mdl" file) - also all the LUA scripts to button control the autopilot... Also need the panel texture upgrade off the Flysimware website...

I've seen the fuel consumption is too high comment before - do you have any real numbers for comparison that you can post ? Current Model Vs Real World...

Regards,

Scott

Hi Scott,

I have not found a proper performance spec on the 35A. My remark was based on a few online references to the 35A having a cruising range of 2000+ nm, which I seem to be falling short of. I did find this page which has a specific range data point:

KTAS 424; Fuel Flow 990; Altitude FL 430

that could be used to verify the model at a specific point (I think I'll do that).

Too bad there's no climb performance data.

On a different note, do you know how the engine air restart is supposed to work? It was my understanding that the Air Restart switches, along with a windmilling turbine and some fuel was the recipe, but no luck. It doesn't seem that windmilling is modeled.

Hi...

Oh - there is the full Flight Manual for the real Lear 35A posted in the Flysimware forum here on AvSim - I don't have the link handy... I haven't really done the comparison yet myself... I do have Air Wrench which produces the theoretical range based on the loaded FDE - I should load it up to take a look - I would think adjusting the fuel flow would be one of the easier tasks to undertake in the scope of building an aircraft from scratch...

Also the Fltplan.com website has a full real world profile on the Lear 35A - includes climb, cruise, and decent - it's free to join - used mostly by corporate pilots - I use it all the time for flight planning in P3D...

Haven't a clue on the air start - sorry - I'm a prop guy normally...

Scott

That would be a faulty assumption :-)  FSX/P3D fuel flow modeling is not very accurate across different operating ranges and altitudes and requires special measures to compensate (at least based on my experience).

That said, a simple 'fix' can be applied to the aircraft.cfg. Under [GeneralEngineData] change:

fuel_flow_scalar = 1.7 => fuel_flow_scalar = 1.473

and you'll be pretty close to the specific range speced in the link I posted above.

Caveat is that the fuel_flow_scalar adjusts the FF across the board, so that if was accurate at Sea Level, it will now be low. I can justify this change for myself though because it's more important to have accurate FF at cruising altitude than sea level, because on long flights, when at altitude, I care about my range. At sea level, I'm usually just goofing around on a short hop and FF accuracy is not a concern.

In post #92 I mentioned / asked:

Scott,

I only located one manual (" Note the only difference is that this manual is for an aircraft equipped with the older FC-200 Autopilot.").?

Hi Vaughan,

Yeah - only one I'm aware of - I'd like to see some reference on how the autopilot should operate...

Scott
