December 3, 200520 yr Hi,This may have been posted before, but is still worth repeating. I came across this link over at the Ultimate Terrain forum area of SimForums:http://www.steve-lacey.com/blogarchives/20..._blurries.shtml Mike
December 3, 200520 yr NO- The answer is.....There is none. This has been discussed and debated with miracle cures everywhere. What works on your system might screw mine up.Ive been chasing this carrot for years along with countless others with some degree of success only to watch it reappear. Is the the addon, weather, mesh, autogen, video card, ram, fps slider???IMO It all boils down to FS9 is using a outdated graphics engine which is being aggrevated by all the tons of addons and our present computers and video cards running a then unimaginable speeds. So turn off the FPS readout, raise your resoloution, squint your eyes if you need to and go flying!!!

But what does that dude know hes only one of the peorpl that designed the game.
December 3, 200520 yr I learned in my younger days not to listen to any advice given by a guy wearing a funny hat surrounded by empty booze bottles hahahahaIf the answer were only so easy as to simply turn down the fps.If my 3500+ 2 gigs and a 7800gtx 512 cant do it, I GIVE UP.BTY- I do not have major blurries or slow fills. Just that annoying occasional wavies and movement when around cities or alot of autogen.
December 3, 200520 yr I love when an expert in something suggest some solutions to a problem and someone who has zero in depth knowledge of the subject ridicules the expert....... Makes you wonder, doesn't it?
December 3, 200520 yr You guys are taking me WAY to seriously.I read that blog when it just came out and till this day still keep my fps at 25 fps.Yes im making fun of his silly hat and wished his suggestions led to a universal fix for the blurry problem that alot of people have.So PLEASE, I beg of you. Tell us the answer to the solution.I know you cannot because the engine itself is flawed. But the point is, I do not really care. Ive been in flights sims since microprose f-119 and have learned to live and accept its never going to be perfect so just make the best of what we have.As a matter of fact, I love the blurries.

Why do they want to spend so much of the intervening time messing with FS9.cfg? "Society has become so fake that the truth actually bothers people".
December 4, 200520 yr <>If you could reply with a detailed list of the flaws and what MSFT should do to correct them that would help.
December 5, 200520 yr Commercial Member I think it is important to note that you can get blurries from not having AF turned on in the video card settings as well as not having the proper extended texture radius settings in the FS9.cfg - even on my cutting edge system I see blurries if I don't set that stuff. What Steve is talking about is the kind of blurries that result from the sim engine being stressed and not being able to load the mipmaps fast enough. December 5, 200520 yr What is the CORRECT "Extended Texture Radius" setting for the FS9 config.? I have an NVidia 6800GT 256 Card.
December 5, 200520 yr Well I know for a fact that "Unlimited" FPS is best with photoreal sceneries. As for data sceneries, I still leave FPS at unlimited and get 0 blurries. No one size fits all. -
December 5, 200520 yr Stan - I don't know about "best", but I've been using these settings with the FPS set to unlimited since day-one (well, maybe day-two :-) )and have never seen a blurry anywhere. All mileage is, of course, variable but this may be a good starting point for anyone who is still using the default values.TERRAIN_DEFAULT_RADIUS=9.500000TERRAIN_EXTENDED_RADIUS=4.50000TERRAIN_EXTENDED_LEVELS=4.0Doug Intel 10700K @ 5.1Ghz, Asus Hero Maximus motherboard, Noctua NH-U12A cooler, Corsair Vengeance Pro 32GB 3200 MHz RAM, RTX 2060 Super GPU, Cooler Master HAF 932 Tower, Thermaltake 1000W Toughpower PSU, Windows 10 Professional 64-Bit, 100TB of disk storage.
