December 6, 200520 yr I have a hangar full of beautiful GA airplanes... Cessnas, Pipers, Beechcraft... but nobody seems to have tackled any of the Mooney airplanes. Why? Would LOVE to see a sleek mooney airframe get the Dreamfleet/PMDG/Realair treatment.Eric AND
December 6, 200520 yr They've talked about it but since there's a default one no one's taken the bat yet. Hopefully with the recent release of some default aircraft done better we'll see one... or two... or more ;). December 6, 200520 yr I agree--I would love to see a nice Mooney, payware or freeware. On that theme I did take the FS2004 Mooney and used the tool MDLC to convert it over to FS2002. It looks beautiful in FS2002.I'm hoping someday Payware (or a great freeware team) tackles the Mooney, The Lancair Columbia and Lancair IV-P, some of the Grumman civil aircraft, and even some of the Bellanca GA aircraft. -John

December 6, 200520 yr Me too. I would also really like to see a nicely done Mooney....just can't stomach the default...tried a couple panels, etc...nothing worked for me. The Mooney is a great plane with a very good ceiling and 'leggs'. It is a really good plane for flying in mountainous regions. And yea, the Grumman Tiger series would be great also! There were some great models of that series back in the FS98 days. Great performers as well.
December 6, 200520 yr Hi John, would you mind elaborate the process you used to convert to FS2002?Thanks in advance!
December 6, 200520 yr At simviation there is a utility (MDLC ver 117) which can convert some aircraft into FS2002--it works with most of the new default aircraft included with FS2004. If you've ever tried, you noticed that moving a FS2004 default aircraft into FS2002 causes that aircraft's visible model to be invisible. MDLC allows for making them visible. The process has several steps and is documented with the utility. The utility only converts files--it does not allow you to change them. Moreover, some FS2004 functionality (such as wingtips that bounce in the chop, or ailerons which droop when the power's off) isn't possible and the models can have odd results when converted to FS2002.-John
December 7, 200520 yr You can enhance the default Mooney a lot by doing two things:Download the Mooney Classic Collection repaints from the Avsim library (I like the Classic collection - Blue).Install the Reality-XP FLT gauges, like so:gauge03=RealityXP_FLT!Airspeed, 44, 59,96,96gauge04=RealityXP_FLT!TurnCoordinator, 44, 166,98,98gauge08=RealityXP_FLT!KI256, 145, 47,118,116gauge09=RealityXP_FLT!KI525, 145, 162,118,116gauge15=RealityXP_FLT!Altimeter, 264, 57,100,100gauge16=RealityXP_FLT!VerticalSpeed, 264, 166,99,99Try it, you'll like it.. :9 http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/135198.jpg Bert
