We start today's tour in Kahului Maui. We will start flying over Kahului and Wailuku and up into IaoValley. We are then off to Kahoolawe where the Us Military used it for target practice up until  the 90s. Then were off to up country Kula and then up to Haleakala National Park. Then we fly down thru Kaupo gap to my favorite place on Earth Hana(Heaven). After a brief stop we are off to visit East Maui and then the  famous surf spot known as Jaws(Some of the biggest waves on earth). Then were off to west Maui with a stop at Kapalua. After flying over my home town of Lahaina we are off to the Island of Lanai which was bought by one person for a million dollars in 1922. After touring the Island we our then off to Molokai where we will see beautiful cliffs and the leprosy colony of Kalaupapa then we make a brief stop at Molokai airport before we will conclude our journey with a beautiful sunset flight to Oahu. I will be flying my helicopter I will let you know what time to set your simulator to later.  Josh

If you want to help others enjoy the multiplayer experience, don't forget to enter your aircraft details on the multiplayer spreadsheet (linked here). Your courtesy will save others a lot of time and effort. Thanks!

Bert

Hi Gents.

So last week was a disaster for me.

I hope I can join in, for at least part of it.

Bert has helped me through some issues that originated with my headset non functioning and I was trying to join using FSX multiplayer so Bert help me set up JoinFS.

Now to connect with this flight using JoinFS, what is the server we are going to use, and will the IP address be available in TeamSpeak or something?

Bryan

I am sure there have been 1000s of successful helicopter flights in Hawaii, but there are what appears to be a far greater than average number of fatal flights. Just google it. I think Bert said he had done a successful helo tour.

When my wife and I went to Kauai, end of Feb and early March 2009 we were in Princeville on the NE shore....when this accident happened; not far down the road.  Up until that moment we had been talking about taking a heli tour to see the island. This cured me for life as we drove near the crash site that day.

Just read the article:

"Thursday's crash was the fifth fatal helicopter incident on Kauai in the past four years, the newspaper reported."

I prefer to do my helo flying in our sims thank you.

Every year there are a few and also airplanes too. Its really easy to get in over your head. As more people come there will be more accidents. I was talking to my nephew last night and he says that there is so many tourist that its a traffic jam everywhere on all the islands. It was starting to get real bad when I left in 04. That was part of the reason for leaving. We got to live there when it was truly a gem of a place. The new people coming in and all the building up of the beaches really ruined it. I do have all the great memories of those times raising a family in paradise .

Got it thanks.

I have been to the Hawaiian islands 8 times. Living there must have been so great.  First in 1980 periodically through to 2012.

We most certainly noticed the increased traffic.  Maui drive from Kihei to Lahaina takes 45 minutes now...used to be 25...its an endless line of cars, both ways, one never passes, just sits back and enjoys the slow flow.

Kauai was a nightmare, if Maui was slow, Kauai was snail paced.

The Big Island while busy, actually flowed along quite well, some new roads have helped.

Oahu been once, that was enough, other than that just past through, its a hot noisy busy city and the build up is overwhelming.

So I decided to add the entire suite of sceneries including the photoreal, George's airports and the additional autogen.

What a bloody nightmare! I also have FSDreamteams suite of Hawaiian airports.

I think I might have sorted out all airport conflicts and elevation conflicts etc....going for a test now.

I think there might still be some Orbx conflicts in the FTX Global base yet to be adjusted.

Argg!

I hear that the Traffic on Kauai is the worst as you said. Just leaving the airport is a nightmare.

FYI...I appear to have managed to cut, paste, delete, add everything correct...its a beautiful thing.  More test in order.

I also compared to my old FSX install into which I had included many of these sceneries.

AND I found a couple that are extra, these come from the Justin Tyme days of FS Genesis

FS Genesis Mesh of Hawaii and FS Genesis Waterfalls of Hawaii.

Both these were free in the old days, I see they are now for sale in the new outfit.

Anyway the mesh and the waterfalls work great as well.  I would share these if they were not now payware.

Thanks again Josh!  Great flight!  :t4012:

Some screenshots in chrono order, short 'n sweet. It's too bad that "specialty spot type" cameras don't work w/ helos -so- you're stuck with my mug in just about each one.
