January 3, 200620 yr I think more people read this forum than the Radar Contact forum so I'm going to put it here. On New Years Eye (last Saturday) I installed Radar Contact 4 because so many people really liked it and said such good thinks about it. Also, in the last few weeks, FS2004 ATC has had some wierd approachs for me. After I installed it, it never worked like it was suppose to, and yes a lot or most of the trouble could have been "operator error". It seemed to work fine (except for those LOUD, LOUD chatters) until I neared the "hold short" of my assigned runway and then...... nothing for 10 - 15 minutes. The few times I was given the OK to depart, there was nearly always another aircraft in takeoff position on the runway that NEVER, NEVER would take off. 5 to 8 other aircraft would be waiting for him to GO (including myself), but after about 20 minutes I decided, " to ####" with him and I went around him and caught all kinds of #### for that action. Then I would apply power to take off and at about 40 -50 knots, the montor picture would FREEZE UP !!! Sometimes I could get it going again and sometimes I had to reboot FS2004. In three days I never had a complete flight so tonight, I UNINSTALLED it and return to my "butter smooth FS2004 ATC". I'm not really sure just what I'm missing as I have nothing to compare. I know I really did miss the "pink brick road" to the active runway that you have in FS2004 ATC. I put Radar Contact 4 in the pile of other Flight Sim programs that I didn't like like: FS Sound, FS Atmosphere, MegaScenery,Active Sky V,O & O Defrag, Tracker IR3 etc. I really don't mind the money I spent, I'm just sorry that it didn't work for me. jerrycwo4
January 3, 200620 yr Jerry.. I don't own RC, but before you bin it, maybe you should read the manual at least once, and make sure eveything is installed right. They spent along time testing it ;) I'm a bit surprised you binned Active Sky and TrackIR too?? :-hmmm John.
January 3, 200620 yr Commercial Member with a few thousand happy campers, there must be something unique about your installation. we'll be glad to help you get it up and running. but it would be more helpful to ask for help, than to uninstall and post. i haven't seen any emails or posts asking for help from you, so you haven't given us much of a chance to help you.we're here to help you. and if you send me an email, let me see if i can make this right for you.jd JD Read my blog
January 3, 200620 yr Oh my, if you put ASV, TrackIR, Megascenery, O&O Defrag and RCv4 in the pile that you don't like, then the question is: What DO you like? Is seems that your machine has some serious problems or is hopelessy underpowered, if programs like RC cause problems. It would recommend a driver reinstall of all drivers for your workstation and if lock-ups are still present, I'd (bad as it sounds) wipe the hard-drive and do a clean install.I run all of your listed add-ons on ONE machine simulanously without any problems at all and only with a small decrease in FS9 performance. Every single program that you have listed is in my Top10 list for the best add-ons for FS9.????Pat

January 3, 200620 yr Sounds to me like you are just not into any add-ons that require a bit of study and patience to learn them. I have noticed that you have posted sometimes a couple of times within a few minutes, on different forums regarding Level D 767 and starting the engines and using the FMC because apparently you didn't want to take the time to read and study the manual and tutorials for that aircraft, even though several people suggested that you do just that. Regarding the lack of patience in waiting until the aircraft in front of you cleared, you would also get yelled at in real life if you started taxiing past other aircraft because you were "in a hurry". Simple solution would be to reduce the AI percentage, pick a less busy runway, or study the manuals for RC4 and LevelD while you are waiting for takeoff . :) Probably would be a good idea to stick to the default FS9 stuff at this point in time, and save yourself some money.

You can send your RC to me for my birthday next wednesday since you didn't seem to like it and since you didn't mind spending the money. ;-)
January 3, 200620 yr While I can understand some disappointment with RC (some just don't like the voices), I am a bit surprised with your also canning ASV. Now with a FREE upgrade to AS6, it, to me, is an essential for flight simming. I've had no problems, other than those of my own fault, with AS. RC is now also the essential add-on also. Frankly, I can't imagine what FSX can offer that I don't have now with these two prgrams running along side FS. Mike
January 3, 200620 yr Well, if Jerry doesn't like them then he can do what he likes with the products he paid for, but the collection he doesn't like seems to include products which have received five star reviews here, there and everywhere, products which diehards acknowledge as `must-haves` and even more curiously, one product which has NOTHING to do with Flight Sm at all - O & O Defrag is a specialist defragmentation tool! One which offers capabilities far above and beyond the default defragmentation utility - once the manual has been read That appears to be the common point to all those items - they actually require more than a press of an .exe to get the best out of them. Jerry, it's looking like the problem is either with ou, or your rig. If you would like help with these items then your first step should be to read the manuals, take the tutorials, at least TRY to understand what you have purchased. Then post in the relevant forumsif there are things you still don't understand. Allcott
January 3, 200620 yr Whoa, hey, hey, I am looking to purchase a Track IR 3. Do you still have it or is it gone already? If not and you still have the original box, documentation and hardware and stuff, feel free to let me know if I can take it off your hands for a price!!?

Jason CYOO - Formerly MYNN[br /]General Aviation Fan[br]P4 3,2Ghz, 1GB Ram, FX5900 128MB, XP SP2.[br /][br /] "There is an art . . . to flying. January 3, 200620 yr It's a shame that these addons don't work for you. Really. But, I fail to see the point of this post. Especially if you've already decided to put them aside. Apparently you didn't bother to contact the authors either before giving up.

January 4, 200620 yr Oh man, Jerry...this post was sorta like sticking your head into a biker bar and screaming "HEY...all you pu**y bikers suck!!""butter smooth FS2004 ATC"?? Geez guy, that rings like "Roseanne Barr's butter smooth behind." Kinda makes a guy nauseous. We're talking shrinkage. Major shrinkage here. :-hahGive JD and the boys a chance. And if you think the chatter is loud, strap on a pair of Dave Clarks and listen to HF crackle and hiss at about 95 dB for 12 straight hours (welcome to the world of the strategic airlift pilot). And don't forget to drink a pot of coffee while you're doing it.All in good fun there, chief.CheersBob ScottATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-V L-300Santiago de Chile Bob Scott | President and CEO, AVSIM Inc ATP Gulfstream II-III-IV-V Sys1 (MSFS20+24/XPlane12+11): AMD 9800X3D, water 2x240mm, MSI MPG X670E Carbon, 64GB GSkill 6000/30, nVidia RTX4090FE Alienware AW3821DW 38" 21:9 GSync, 2x4TB Crucial T705 PCIe5 + 2x2TB Samsung 990 SSD, EVGA 1000P2 PSU, 12.9" iPad Pro Thrustmaster TCA Boeing Yoke, TCA Airbus Sidestick, Twin TCA Airbus Throttle quads, PFC Cirrus Pedals, Coolermaster HAF932 case Sys2 (P3Dv5/v4): i9-13900KS, water 2x360mm, ASUS Z790 Hero, 32GB GSkill 7800MHz CAS36, ASUS RTX4090 Samsung 55" JS8500 4K TV@60Hz, 3x 2TB WD SN850X 1x 4TB Crucial P3 M.2 NVME SSD, EVGA 1600T2 PSU Fiber link to Yamaha RX-V467 Home Theater Receiver, Polk/Klipsch 6" bookshelf speakers, Polk 12" subwoofer, 12.9" iPad Pro PFC yoke/throttle quad/pedals with custom Hall sensor retrofit, Thermaltake View 71 case, Stream Deck XL button box Sys3 (DCS/P3Dv4/ATS/ETS): AMD 7800X3D, MSI MPG X870E Carbon, Noctua NH-D15S, 64GB GSkill 6000/30, EVGA RTX3090 Alienware AW3420DW 34" 21:9 GSync, Corsair HX1000i PSU, 4TB Crucial T705 PCIe5 + 2TB Samsung 970Evo Plus, TM TCA Officer Pack, Saitek combat pedals, TM Warthog, TM RS300 FF wheel/pedals, Coolermaster HAF XB case

If you've been reading some of the threads pertaining to the review system you know what I mean.As for "must haves..." there is no such thing. "One man's meat is another man's poison." I've tried some of the "must haves" and they were totally to my disliking also. There are no absolutes.
