How many are still going to buy payware for FS9?

Featured Replies

After getting the BAC1-11 freeware I've felt no inclination to get any further addon aircraft. The last purchase I made was Reality XP terrain warning gauge which is fantastic and which I've installed in a number of planes. But I'll likely stop any further purchases now until FSX comes out.

With all my scenery and add-ons I will stick with FS-9 for quite awhile and hope that many of the other add-ons for FS-9 that I would still like to get, will still be available after FSX comes out.

I think I'm done buying for FS9 now, as I don't know enough about compatibility issues, but need to watch the expenditures now that I'm retired. I will probably upgrade my hardware in the fall once I have some idea what kind of rig is suitable for FS9, witout breaking the bank.Ron

Well after recent purchasers of RC4 and Walk and Follow I think I'm just about done for FS9. Was considering Weathermaker Pro but less than impressed by the demo - a nice idea but too limited in its implementation. Might still get Alaska Cinematic and if there was a very realistic Saab 340B or and excellent A340 (ie PMDG quality) I could be tempted and there is some very expensive scenery stuff for the land of Lord of the Rings New Zealand reviewed on AVSIM a month or so back.Bruceb

I will be making at least one more purchase - the Carenado Cessna 206 on floats the very minute it is released. Love that plane!duttonhttp://fsblogger.com/blogs/dutton

Sure, I will. As long as companies like Carenado keep coming up with quality, affordable add-ons, why not? And this coming from a heavy metal jockey! Personally, I've rediscovered the balance between hard-core IFR / SIDS / STARS / FMC's in airliners and just exploring the world again in GA aircraft. I still flight plan and shoot ILS's, but there is a symbolism in it for me really; slowing down my hectic, information-packed life. So as long as software like MegaSCenery and Carenado are out there and so affordable, why not? I'll cross the FSX line when I get to it, or when it gets to me. Due to the fact that after the appearance of a new FS there's a long period where nothing really good appears, and there's always a good chance that FS9 developments will not make it into FSX, I'll keep on buying and using FS9 for a long time to come. For me, only the many quality add-ons make any version of FS worth using it. Without them, FS for is like Windoze without any software. Was true since FS II, is true now and will be true for FSX as well for me (except FSX is delivered including e.g. a fresh version of PMDG's MD-11, of course ;-)) ).Andreas

Alot act like when FSX comes out we have got to delete FS9.I have a 200 gig+ hard drive and another 100 gig. I left the old fs9 on the 100 gig and use it as a back up to all my old files. So I have 2 bloated copies of FS9 on my computer. When FSX comes out I will simply load it and keep fs9. When FSX matures and the addons start being cranked out or the ones I own can convert over, then I may consider deleting it entirely.

I won't.Cedric
