April 27, 20179 yr ??? VoxATC still alive??? One thing I don't get with all this beta updates. What's the sense of installing a beta, if it's only going to be active for 7 days, then you have to go back to your old original stable version if you want to continue using VoxATC? I mean, ChasePlane has a live Alpha going on, yes we paid for it, but you don't lose activation after so many days! It's a working progress, and I only wish VoxATC was more like ChasePlane in development. Of course there will be glitches, and problems with the beta, but you are to expect it, and the purpose of it all is to keep sending feedback to the developer, and the developer letting you know if and when any of the fixes will be address if needed, or if it's user error! Come On Man!!! lol Johnny Rosario
April 27, 20179 yr I read : "Now terrain aware (must be online for this feature to work). ATC should no longer vector you into terrain" Oh, oh, if it works, it's realy a (big) step ahead ! Interesting...Very. ...and btw this new version allows you to test it for 60 days even if the previous version has expired ! So, will I have misinterpreted the message about "7 days" ? April 28, 20179 yr There appear to be at least a few other things that were fixed since the last beta. The Voice Configurator now correctly plays most voices, but I couldn't get it to play my two legacy AT&T voices. At least it doesn't crash when one hits the Speak button.
April 28, 20179 yr I also thought it was 7 days, but I see that was only for people who have never tried out VoxATC and want to try it before they buy it. 60 Days is more like it, but at the rate of progress, if there is no update after 60 day, I guess you have to go back to the original version? April 28, 20179 yr You don't need to purchase vers 6xx to install vers 7.3 beta. There is no activation key for the beta. Once 60 day goes by, it simply stops working. You want something more lasting, then buy the 6.2. Johnny Rosario

April 28, 20179 yr This beta might be close to a release version. So far I haven't seen any bugs with P3d V3, Win 10 CE and the most recent nVidia driver 381.89. I'm sure that it is still possible to gum up the works with either an ill-formed flight plan or 3rd party airport, but that basically qualifies as "pilot error". Does anybody have a good suggestion as to what airport would be a good place to test the terrain avoidance enhancement?
April 28, 20179 yr I received an email from Carol at RC simulations last week saying that the retail version of the new VOX would be the next release after the 7.3 beta, and that the final version would come out soon after the 7.3. Forever indebted to the late Michael Greenblatt of FSGS.

I too am interested in this terrain avoidance enhancement test. Didn't have a chance to see how well it works, but I installed VoxATC in P3D, and taxi around my home airport of KMCI, was pretty impressed with what I saw so far. I use SPAI Traffic v5, which doesn't clutter the sim with any afcad files. Every aircraft correctly aligned, parked, and taxing correctly as they should. My KC airport is from TropicalSim, haven't tested it out with any other airports, but I hope it works just as well. Johnny Rosario

Does anybody have a good suggestion as to what airport would be a good place to test the terrain avoidance enhancement? Same experience here with P3DV3.4, Win 7 and good old Nvidia driver 376.3--no bugs yet. Have you had a chance to test out the terrain avoidance? Can't find anything yet which says how to activate yet, except for the required internet connection. The manual that comes with 7.3 doesn't mention it. Flying in Norway/Sweden now and will plan out an IFR flight to an airport in a valley between two mountains and let you know. Looks like ORBX ENSG Sogndal Haukåsen Airport would be a good one. The first time I flew VFR to it even on a clear day, I couldn't find it without flying all over the area between mountains before discovering it. Forever indebted to the late Michael Greenblatt of FSGS.
May 1, 20179 yr So, instead of ENSG, I decided to fly IFR from LIPB Bolzano to Innsbruck at 14k feet in the Lancair with one waypoint to the West of LOWI. VOX did fine until about 40 miles out from LOWI when I requested a decent for arrival. VOX hung on that two times, and I turned it off and on twice . On the third try VOX started working again and after I requested the decent, it took me down to 13k. Then I selected the RWY coming from the west going east (RWY 8). VOX vectored me down to 12k about 10 miles out from LOWI and circled me to the north and then west, then south and finally east without sending me into any mountains. However I was directed to descend from 12k to 5k at 10 miles out from the airport and then given visual clearance for RWY 08 from 5k. Had to descend at 3k per minute or more to get there. This was an extreme test and VOX did not vector me into any mountains and instead took me around the mountains and into the valley west of LOWI. Other than hanging twice and making a very steep descent on approach I think under these tough circumstances VOX did fine. Forever indebted to the late Michael Greenblatt of FSGS.
