DCS's implementation is pretty good as well.

Can someone tell me the best way to make things full screen so that the mouse somewhat works in the clickable cockpit?  For whatever reason my oculus keeps crashing whenever I select auto fill monitor in settings.  And when I select a lower resolution for the desktop in Prepar3d it messes with my desktop.

Thanks Jason

In today's hotfix patch I see a number of references to VR, anyone seen any improvements?

Fixed an issue in VR views that prevented dynamic lighting in the right eye

Fixed performance impact when entering and then exiting VR

Fixed text label size mismatches in VR

Sadly, nothing to write home about. The only thing I can see of any great difference is that the aircraft traffic labels are now displaying properly (which was an issue so trivial in the list of VR issues that I hadn't even mentioned it so far)

However, I am glad that they have finally fixed the positions of some buildings in Istanbul, the 2 people that noticed the problem must now be overjoyed!

Looks like there is hardly any improvements with hotfix 1.  I dunno, I am seeing on prepar3d.com forums about video card temp rising.  I know VR pushes video cards max but I do not want my 980 SLI over heating.

I guess I have to wait till hotfix 2 or P3D 4.1 release comes out.  Even Flyinside isn't ready right now.  I will let everyone beta test p3dv4 for me lol.

I was a FlyInSide user in v3. I now fly solely v4 and I'm not really missing FlyInSide! I have a LeapMotion, which isn't being used due to the lack of FlyInSide, but I find the VR mouse pointer good enough and all the other pluses of v4 far outway this tiny negative. My personal recommendation is not to hesitate getting v4. Go get it now. You won't regret it.

Thank You, will try P3dv4 soon

Can anyone tell me or recommend settings to make VR enjoyable and doable?  My left and right eye seem out of focus with one another. Takes my vision 5 seconds to get normal after removing HMD. It's so choppy it's obnoxious. I've seen posts suggesting dialing in settings so you can get 30-40 fps on 4K screen should translate nicely for VR but that hasn't been my experience. I have a pretty beefy machine i7 5930 6 core at 4.3 mz, 64 gb ram and a Titan Xp but I'm struggling.

Im kinda new to the party returning to Prepar3d. Skipped Prepar3d v3 and never used Flyinside but I feel like I must be missing something and the experience must be better than what I'm seeing. I can run DCS very smooth.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated. As I said I can crank settings way up in 4K with good results but omg I forgot how much I didn't miss Trackir when switching to VR

thanks Jason

Unfortunately V4 isn't the best place to start at the moment as it is still quite buggy in VR and not well optimised. V3 with flyinside is better performing atm.

Really the starting point is to turn down all your visual settings and see what your performance is like. Then start turning up the settings one by one. Or you could try swapping the VR render to mono mode (see orginal post). This will improve the issues you mention but you will loose the depth perception in VR

If you want to see what a good (combat) VR Sim looks like for free, try DCS world.

For the record, from my own personal opinion I think now is NOT the time to purchase V4 for VR use. If you are using V3 + flyinside, I think you would be dissappointed making the swap now.... unless you were having terrible memory issues in V3.

Thank you Flibberflops for your insights and feedback.  I will NOT be purchasing P3Dv4 right now till VR gets stable.  I can not allocate time to do bug fixing for LM.  Even Orbx Vector is not out yet for v4 and it looks like I will wait few more months till all my addons are compatible for the new sim.  And I still have no knowledge when Flyinside for V4 will be ready.  I know it will be a while as the team is busy fixing it for Xplane and working on their new sim.

I just do not understand LM for half baking VR, they had ample time with P3Dv3 VR to get it right by v4 (but l guess I will wait for P3D4.1 or 4.2).  The bugs can be solved prior to release - they have it at work.

Sticking with P3D3.4 with Flyinside for Now - it works perfectly for me at the moment.

I've yet to find any "bugs" with VR in v4.0.28.21686. For me it runs smooth as silk... In fact that goes for most things in the latest v4 release, not just VR. Sure the VR mouse cursor wasn't fab in the initial v4 release, but now it much improved in the latest release and I have no complaints. With the cursor working OK I don't really miss FlyInSide.

I wouldn't call it "half baked" either... P3D is a product constantly in development (and lots of other aspects are being worked on, not just VR) and I'd much prefer they provide incremental releases than have to wait for years in between.

Regarding ORBX, I'm a complete FTX nut! I don't like to fly without it! The FTX regions work 100% in v4. Yes we are still waiting for the airfields (which I gather comes down to a 64-bit version of ObjectFlow?), but when they arrive soon it'll be heaven. In the meantime I'm happy flying in the regions with the built-in detailed airfields.

I genuinely cannot recall a time when I've been this happy in flight sim....

Just to clarify... you are finding the cursor is better in the latest relase?????.... as I am finding no different to the initial V4 release!

I am also interested in everyone giving a quick shout out on how they are finding VR on V4? I must confess Airtrooper is the first person I know of to give it a glowing report.

I did get my developer license today to test the p3dv4.

It is okay (not the best) experience in VR.  Flyinside with p3.4 is way better.

There is no VR-SLI in native VR.  VR-SLI is much needed for today's video card.  Maybe down the road with GTX 11 series+ it will probably be needed.  I have 2x980s and Flyinside does magic that P3D4 VR just can not do.  I will have to sim on my 4K screen for the time being.  Since I have a month sub, I probably won't play with the sim that much at all.

Disabling Stereo mode gives smooth results, but I do get headaches with it.  I need Stereo Vision on my VR.  This is cutting edge tech, I will demand performance here.

I am flying the PMDG 777 over Orbx KSEA now for this VR-SLI helps big time.

I also can not go back to 3.4 and deal hellish VAS issues.  32bit ship has sailed for me for good.

Bottom line: Native VR for P3D4 is hit or miss and depends on your bird in the sim.  Flyinside and its tweaks are much needed.  We have technically moved forward one step and one step back with the latest release of P3Dv4

I'm having a terrible time. That's really saying something coming from FSX Steam with flyinside.

1, Mouse unusable (click points - use left eye only).

2, Horrible frame rate  18 FRPS vr - 75 FRPS monitor.

3, Juddering (Schweppes Snaps effect) when looking around.

It needs fixed, it needs fixed soon!
