Featured Replies

Anyone else seing this?

Running 2 x titan sc 6gb each un sli

I7 4790k

Ssd x2

16gb ram

Can't say i have so far, though i've not played a for ridiculous amount of time, but certainly enough to have noticed this.

Have you tried in non-SLI mode to rule that out?

No not yet may have try that

Or sell my cards and get a 1080ti lol

You'll always see some of that I'm sure in the right situations. Even XP11 has some pop in if you load it down too much despite having excellent fade in.

Best remedy in v4 is to set the autogen draw distance on high. If pop happens, it'll be so far away you won't see it.

Tried  the auto draw distance high

Same thing still  see popping

Seeing a lot of this and I have the autogen draw distance at max because, for the longest time, it always bothered my how close the "autogen line" was. What it appears to be doing is drawing close to the aircraft and then out towards the draw distance--as specified in whatever settings you set--but then "popping" in the barren autogen gaps in the middle. Does that make sense?

is the problem solved? Did you make a complete reinstall of p3d?

I really see no differences between MSAA and SSAA in terms of quality... Do you guys really see the difference? :-)

maybe I am blind, who knows? :-)

No still a little autogen popping but not as bad as before

But using4xmsaa at flytampa airports are giving me bad shimmering and noticbly the light poles etc are jaggy

Dynamic lighting and vegetation off

Basically running same settings as v3.4 and aa is worse

4xssaa is a little better thou flying over eham looking at airport i get bad stuttering and lag .

Also eham flytampa loading aircraft on active runway itnloads me on the grass

Going to test on my fsdt scenery airports see if that has any jaggies or shinmering on 4xmsaa if not then  its flytampa scenery issues

Cheers

Mike

You can increase the autogen distance by modifying AUTOGEN_DRAW_DISTANCE.

Max. Slider is 30000, but e.g. 50000 is a visable improvement, but also a huge fps hit.

Windows 11 Pro - Ryzen 3 5900X - nVidia RTX 4090 - 32GB DDR4-3600 === Microsoft Flight Simulator

I've noticed using TEXTURE_SIZE_EXP=10 in Prepar3d.cfg causes excessive autogen popping for me. My CPU probably can't keep up. I'm running a 4960X at 4.2Ghz with Titan X (maxwell) 12GB. If I remove that setting from the cfg file popping is significantly reduced. At least it is for me.

That's a good point. Autogen pop in P3D is usually related to the CPU not being able to keep up with loading (just like blurries), not with any bug causing it.
