Approach and Lift Dump

Hi Bill,

That would be great - I think I can handle writing the scripts - what I have yet to determine is how to identify the variable (LVAR) in question - someone had pointed me to FSUIPC's logging capabilities - I've played around with them - but still haven't figured out how to get it to work...

I'll cover that in the tutorial.  It's actually pretty easy.  But Mr. Dowson writes like the genius he is and it's sometimes difficult for us normal people to decipher his user guide.

Instead of "set"  write "toggle" so that it looks  like this :->  "L:ASD_390_LEVER_LIFT_DUMP=toggle".

 

Once you done that assign a button (let's say X) to the macro.

So now you hit X once and you extend the thing. You hit X again and you retract it.

Yep, changing set to toggle did the trick. Works great now, but only in FSX:SE, does not work in P3D. Maybe I have to do something a little different for the LM version.

I'm running the Premier in P3D v4. The Lift-Dump system doesn't appear to be working properly. Deploying the Lift-Dump extends the Spoilers but has no effect on the Flaps which remain in the Full Flaps position. Cancelling the Lift-Dump retracts the Spoilers and has no effect on the Flaps.

I have tried deploying the Lift-Dump using the switch in the VC pedestal and using the fsuipc macro described in this thread. Both function as described herein and affect only the Spoilers. Is this a bug involving P3D v4 or am I doing something wrong?

Why should the flaps retract? That's the way lift dump works on basically all planes! You want the high drag of the flaps to slow the plane down.

On some planes, (e.g. the HS125) selecting lift dump extends the flaps even further to aid with braking.

I'm not saying that the flaps ought to retract when I activate the Lift-Dump. What I'm saying is that I expected the Flaps to extend beyond Full Flaps when Lift-Dump is activated, as they do on the Carenado Hawker.

If I understand what you're saying, it's that on the Premier the Lift-Dump system is designed to only deploy the Spoilers and has no impact on the Flaps. In that case, it is operating as intended.

That additional flap extension is something very British, I'd say. Can't think of any other plane at the moment which has such a feature.

That's correct. On the Premiere, "lift dump" only deploys the spoilers - no different than the spoiler auto-deploy on most airliners.

On the Hawker, the lift dump does involve driving the flaps all the way to 85 degrees, but on that airplane it is not automatic - the pilot has to manually pull the spoiler handle back to the first detent, then lift it up and pull it all the way down to the lift dump position.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone have any idea how you would do this with Prepar3d v5?
